Perhaps he should have stayed home, Ram always told him how much of a liability he was with his drinking and that sharp tongue of his that didn't seem to know how to filter out what to say to others, but then he wanted to see some bloodshed and what Argonians had in store. Perhaps he could see what they were like on the battlefield and prepare for a potential war.
Rohan made a sneer expression, insulting by the implication that he'd need assistance getting up a set of stairs. "No, I'm not an elderly man." he gripped onto the railing of the staircase to head upward.
by the gods this was going to be a long event. At least he didn't roll his eyes as the man spoke to him, "no but you are injured from the war and the royal boxes are a long walk up." He leaned against the hand rail. "Since you made a big fuss i assume i had hurt you, not that you where some uptight royal that didn't want a lower class touching you." Maybe he was getting bit to snarky but it had been a long morning already. As the man started to walk he made his own leave, "since you are fine i still have some stuff to bring up to the boxes still so guess ill see you in a bit."
◞ ❛ 🪷 — the night air was cool against his skin , carrying with it the distant hum of music and laughter from the city below . from the tower , the lights of the town shimmered like scattered gems , casting a golden glow over the winding streets . it was a beautiful sight — one he had longed to see up close , yet , the king of argonia had bidden his youngest son to remain within the palace walls . . . and then , of course , there had been the matter of the prince ' s health .
“ tassian , ” he had barely turned from the window when tassian strode into his chambers . his scent of wind and air , as if he had brought the great skies with him . his presence a gentle breeze — unexpected , yet undeniably welcome . yet , surprise flickered across the prince ' s features at his entrance , before giving way to something softer . it had been days since they last spoke . perhaps he should have sought him out sooner .
" a whole week ? " a small smile touched his lips . the mention of nuvem , of their shared concern , stirred something quiet in his chest . mayhaps tassian would not say it outright , but he had come because he worried . " i did not realize i had kept you waiting so long . "
“ the market . . . ” lian glanced past him , toward the lights beyond the palace walls . he could picture it already — the world unfolding beneath them , the wind threading through his hair , the streets glowing like a river of firelight . it was indulgent . reckless , even . but oh , how he wanted to go . his gaze lifted to tassian ’ s . “ if you do not mind waiting a moment longer , i would very much like to see it with you . ”
he should have stood quiet so he could taking in the site of the man in the window a little longer. There was no denying that the prince was beautiful. In the eyes of the dragon rider the most beautiful prince his kingdom had to offer. Sad that he had to be locked away due to his health. "well it wasn't just your fault the king gave me way too much to do to get ready for this tournament that i can't even fight in." His voice holding only a bit of the irritation he had felt when first given the order. He moved to sit on the other's bed with a smile before he laid back on it. Comfort was not something he needed bit he was going to take it even the few minutes he could take when it was in front of him.
"Wait for what?" he asked not bothering to get sit up as he spoke. "you already look beautiful and Nuvem is resting at the window for us." He spoke as he laid there but sighed knowing he was going to give in to the man's demands either way, "but if you want to get dressed or something then go ahead i have no orders to follow for the night."
Tassian knew this could cause trouble but what really did he care. The arrogance of youth pulsed in his veins as he stepped off his dragon onto the balcony of Lian. He hadn't really seen the prince since the other families had come to their land. He wasn't really sure if that was due to him being busy or the other wanting to hide away. Either way the dragon rider didn't like it. He was glad the door to the other's room was unlocked as he walked in. "I don't think have seen you in a whole week and Nuvem said if i didn't come to check on you then he would roast me alive." The joke wasn't far from the truth. His dragon hadn't threatened his life but did want to make sure the prince was doing well. "have you taken a tour of the market yet its dark out but all the lights make it look like sea of stars. If you arent busy we can go for a ride to look at it." Time to get the prince out of his room. And if the other held on to him as the sat on the back of his dragon so be it.

"fight?"
despite his height and desirable stature, the look baltasar gave the stranger was incredulous. "why, I've never fought a day in my life, and I never intend to. if I look like a poor combatant, then all the better for it."
with tassian introduced, and his title explained, baltasar glanced to the side -- and gave a signal to his guards. still dressed casually, feigning drinking and conversing as they maintained a perimeter around him. "prince-consort baltasar sollia. husband of king lucerys sollia."
"shame you have a great build" He spoke with a slight smirk "But strength for vanity does have its purpose. You could win this hole thing if you really wanted to or you at least look like you could." A little of a double sided compliment but nothing too offensive he hoped. "Oh" He paused and bowed properly this time. He didn't see any guards but that was probably the effect the other wanted. "Nice to meet the queen of a far off place. Are you finding your time in Argonia to your liking?" he wasn't an official liaison for the crown but he could help when he could.

Back home, they didn't host tourneys quite at this level... perhaps this was something that should be fixed. Or at least on a smaller scale, since Rohan wasn't fond of the idea of having the entire Metian aristocracy up his ass. Making his way down to the pit where the fighters were preparing themselves, there were a few others giving pins to men who were fighting for them. Rohan had a short moment with the Castherian who was fighting for him, giving him the swan pin. "Um.. you've got this," Rohan said in a low voice as he looked over to the others who were nearby, wishing there was more room. He'd always been good at giving passionate speeches to his men to lift their spirits and ready them for battle, but he wasn't leading this man today.
Afterwards, the prince excused himself before the crowds started to form and head up the old steps to his booth. Gripping his cane, the crippled prince nearly fell when someone bumped into him. "Watch where you're going," he spewed out to whoever it was that didn't seem to notice him.
Tassian was told he wasn't allowed to fight, not that he wanted too. Some of the other of his kingdom would take his place and he was just to act as security if any one got too nosey and ventured past what was open to time. As much as he hated the chance to show off he knew he was better with his dragon and favored more open arenas where he could move more freely. He was moving people to the right places and had just escorted one of his princes to the book and was rushing down the stairs. He hadn't seen the other's cane or he would have taken a slower pace. Still he paused and tilted his head down as he looked at the man. "My apologies was in such a rush" He spoke openly as he looked at the man, "Do you need help the rest of the way up?"

finally seen in a light that felt like himself, and not like he was formed into a reflection of some previous ruler's husband, baltasar was out in force at the next event to occur. logically, he should be concerned; no news came from the investigation of the attempted murder. but he felt too free to not make a showing.
with the title of queen, went the long robes and hanging sleeves. working (and paying) his tailors overtime, baltasar stood regally in some slightly more rakish attire, inspired by his golden days as a man leaving his mark upon numerous noble necks and backsides. a vest that swung low down his chest, enough chains and necklaces to create a chorus as he moved to fill that gap, and fitted pants tucked into strong boots. let none look at baltasar sollia and see the queen -- only the prince-consort.
even the way he moved seemed with renewed confidence; lifting something to inspect it, returning it to its (assumed) place.
"--you've been staring." whether or not the person he addressed was, baltasar found it more fun to assume, and put said person on the back-foot. "were you waiting for a question, or simply basking in my presence?"
Maybe he had been staring he couldn't really say that he wasn't due to him being spaced out when the other spoke to hm. He had been given a strong warning to not be rude outside of the ring, but social tact was never something the dragon rider was good at. "Sorry" he spoke with a slight tilt of his head. There was no denying the person in front of him held some sort of title higher then his. "Was just thinking about how heavy all those chains would be and how hard it would be to fight in an out fit like that." The idea that this was not a thing that should be said to a guest never crossed his mind. "Tassian Dragon rider for this kingdom" he spoke offering another bow as he introduced himself.
The cool chill of the air always felt nice at this height. No matter what the season when you got above the clouds the warmth of the sun was always there. Tassian had no idea how long he had been flying but he had freedom now. As much as he loved his own little kingdom it was nice to roam around the country. The rumble from the throat of his dragon let him know that they would start to dive back to earth. He leaned forward shielding his face from the sharpness of wind. "yeah yeah" He spoke as he slide down the beasts side. "Go ahead and drink up we can rest for a while." He looked around the clearing. He could see the walls of the city and the carts leaving the gate but it didn't look like they had landed on someone's land. He found a tree that sprouted some fruit and climbed grabbing one and taking a bite. Pausing when he saw someone, "Oh don't worry he's tamed and wont hurt you he's sweetheart."
