they grinned at them. “you’ve got yourself a deal.” it was one of the times where skye was making an active effort to actually be a good sibling -- and she thought there was no better time than the carnival to do so. “but remember, the main thing is to have fun,” she teased, though it was more a reminder for themselves. 

“you fancy some healthy competition?” skye asked the other, smirking slightly. the bumper cars were always something at a carnival that they had fun on. she always liked to get into friendly confrontation.

the icee in her hand had nearly melted before skye had managed to finish it. luckily, it wasn’t a trouble for her and they curled a hand round the cup, using their powers to freeze the liquid again. skye placed the straw back into her mouth and slurped. she noticed the other looking and almost smiled. “you got one you want me to do the same too?” they weren’t so sure what about the carnival had her in such a social mood, but people may as well make the most.

“i can’t believe people really go up there just to make out,” skye said, making a slightly disgusted face and looking up at the ferris wheel. they weren’t sure what disgusted them more -- the kissing, or the idea of the height. but she wasn’t about to admit to a fear.

they shook their head at the other, almost too violently. “no -- not a chance i’m going in there,” skye said, speaking about the mirror maze. they hated those things and didn’t trust any hecate kid, so wasn’t about to lose half their night stuck in there.

“i heard if you stand too close under the swing ride ride, you might end up with some hurl on you,” skye warned the other, standing a little further back than he was. she didn’t understand why people would go on the ride if they had an unstable stomach. 

“i don’t know the name of the band,” skye started. “but apparently the one that’s on at nine is supposed to be really good. do you wanna head over to the main stage and watch them together?” 

“so --” skye started, gesturing their head towards the skee ball game. “fancy a quick game? a little sibling competition?” she smiled at freya. “loser buys the other popcorn?” skye was grateful to be spending some time with freya, instead of just roaming around the carnival alone.

their eyes were too busy gazing at the rollercoaster that soared above them to pay attention to where her legs were taking her. before they knew it, skye had bumped into someone. in any other circumstance, they would have just ignored it and moved on, but after seeing it was anais, they thought at least a soft apology was in order. “sorry --” they began. “i wasn’t paying attention.”

skye looked at the few food trucks shaped in a u shape that were closest to the two of them right now and scrunched up her nose. “i definitely heard there’s a falafel truck around here somewhere -- if we don’t find it soon, i might starve,” they said dramatically. “at least cotton candy is vegan... right?”

“yeah, the general public fucking suck,” skye nodded slightly. unfortunately there was very little jobs around campus that didn’t include some kind of customer service. "people will treat you like crap and then practically cry when you speak to them the same way.”

by the time skye had finished their last class, there was no point heading back to her dorm or anywhere else that matter by the time the feminist alliance started. she knew what room it took place in and knew that they were likely to be undisturbed if she turned up early. so skye had settled themselves into one of the seats at the back of the classroom, feet perched up on the desk and slumped in a chair, reading through one of the mandatory text books for one of their classes. when the door opened, skye was almost about to burst into annoyance at the disturbance, but emotions settled down as they recognised the other member. but it was with a heavy sigh that she put the book down and sat up straight. “oh, yay --” skye responded, dryly. “how much setting up do you need to do that it takes half an hour?” she asked, though was already stood up. they may as well help instead of sitting around like an asshole.

skye rolled their eyes at june’s words. they could cut off friendship with her if she really wanted, but she wouldn’t. though skye wasn’t one to admit out loud such intimate things, they enjoyed being friends with her. however, they still joked. “you underestimate my power of being a stone cold bitch,” she said with a small smirk. “the words dad vacation shirt make me want to cringe, but somehow i feel you’d pull it off.”

skye was on the table next to her when the man had confronted her. they were almost ready to step in to resolve it -- always ready for some kind of confrontation. however when the woman snapped, the man got the picture and backed off. eventually the stares of the others died down and skye smiled, amused. “nicely handled,” they commented. though, most people probably wouldn’t class it has handled well. “i hate people like that.”

“can you ever truly know a cat?” skye joked. “nine lives and even more personalities.” though, they had to admit, they were definitely more of a cat person than any other animal. one could say she was similar in temperament. skye let basile settle next to her and continued to pet him contently. “of course, go ahead,” skye offered their sibling. it felt nice for them to be on good terms with their siblings at the moment. skye knew they weren’t the best to be around, what with her constant changing of moods. but it did feel good to know that they had people there if she needed. “i have an essay due next wednesday, but i’m mostly done with it already. what’s your assignment on?” skye questioned, wondering if they could help at all.

“look, i’m not going to pretend to be some huge fashion expert,” skye said. they usually made half an effort with what they wore. she chose things that she thought looked good and not anyone else and rarely followed the trend. “but if you dye all your clothes brown and then wear them -- i will cut off all friendship with you.” a hand moves to touch the camisole june picked out. “this isn’t terrible, actually. you could pair it with one of the pair of jeans you picked out.”
