Rupert Neve passed. A giant. I saw him once. Not met. At NAMM. 7 years ago or so. He was standing at his booth and it almost looked like most people would walk by and not even know who he was. I thought about walking over and chatting him up but i’m normally not so into that. So I didn’t. Kinda walked by as well and felt happy to see the man IRL once. I mean. Arguably nearly ALL vocals in the last 40 or so years were recorded with a Neve pre or clone. I own a 33609 and A Chandler LTD1 (the latter is not a Neve but inspired by bis 1073 preamp design). What an impact. To have been a part of basically EVERY album to some extend. What a loss.
