Found old art I've been meaning to post but always forgor... My oc Archie in psychonauts AU. He was a counselor in the Psychic Summer Camp (not necessarily Whispering Rock. don't ask me)
In his adolescence-youth he was sent to a military academy. And if in the usual universes everything is not good - tyranny, hazing, punishments etc. - then in Psychonauts everything is canon-typically caricatured to the extremes. So yeah, the place fucked him up a little, especially with his heightened sense of justice, he was stepping up for everyone...
And then he ran away and found psychonauts. After a few years here he applied for a counselor job and it was great!
He's very friendly and good-natured, robin hood vibes. He and Milla are very close friends, with motherly care from Milla's side
In mine and my friends' psychonauts story people go missing and get captured for the Bad Guy to separate their brains from the bodies to sell these bodies to rich folks that want them for themselves, while the brains go to the Bad Guy number 2 that uses them as a polygon for his mental parasites (traumas, fears, baggage etc. game enemies).
Archie goes missing. His brain won't be found for approximately 5 years.
His mind was delicious, a nice space. So resilient, so ready to put up a fight. When he was a counselor his brain looked like a forest with a rope obstacle course, tents, fires...
After 5 years, Milla enters his brain and it's... completely different. Now his brain, due to the feeling of powerlessness and confinement, returned to memories of the academy. He's in the endless war that never ends, when his enemies are fears, phobias, insecurities, panic attacks and everything in between, his own and forcefully imposed.
She finds Archie in a training trench in terrible condition, he is wounded and hiding from his enemies. And Archie sees her and gets very scared and says that she needs to leave as soon as possible.
And she tells him that the Psychohanauts have found him and they'll help him, everything will be fine. And Archie just... breaks down. And he sobs in her arms and begs her to get him out of here or just end this for good. He can't take it anymore, he can't hold the line anymore. He clings to her like a lifeline, begs her not to abandon him.
The head creatures approach them and Milla is forcibly pulled out of Archie's head. The machines connected to him beep. His brain is dead. He's given up, they've finished him off.
