I volunteered to run the Twitter @HPbooknight campaign for the Colchester Harry Potter night to get a bit more publicity.

I have been away from this blog for waay too long. Working part-time and having a 2yr old leaves little time (and energy!) to be creative :(

A while back my good friend told me about a Harry Potter event for kids she had organised. I was so excited by the idea, unfortunately I couldn't make the first event but registered my interest for anything in the future.

Huzzah a Harry Potter night for adults! (16+) On Friday13th November 2015 I will be volunteering at the event which is taking over Firstsite art gallery in Colchester.  “We'll transport you to modern-day Diagon Alley, full of colourful characters, flamboyant performances, interactive experiences, magical crafts and musical mischief” I will on the Florish and Bolts stand helping fellow wizards create their spell books! Excited is an understatement!!

Edible Masterpieces is a fundraising initiative set up by Art Fund to raise money for UK museums and art galleries. The idea was to make an edible interpretation of any great art work. My lovely friend Zann took it upon herself to organise not one but two fundraising events for the cause. One of which was at Firstsite art gallery in Colchester which I took part and attended.

I found out about this earlier in the year so my little creative brain was ticking over ideas and possible works in which I could make edible. I am always one for pushing boundaries and this was no exception. To say I was ambitious was a bit of an over statement! 

Having little cake making experience didn't put me off and I decided on trying to recreate Andy Warhol's Campbell soup can....in 3D!

Luckily the day before the event (pushing it I know!) my lil lady had an extra long nap so I was able to make the cake in the day and ice it in the evening.

(Also having zero experience of using fondant icing I thought this was the best method..!) 

As I am expecting our first born in a little under 9 weeks now I thought I would create some art for the nursery, especially as we're renting and can't decorate :(

I've just signed up to Pinterest and loving it! I've been searching wildly for ideas and came across the below which really inspired me!

I've always loved rainbows and have wanted to use buttons as a medium as they evoke feelings of childhood. 

I hope you like my version of the above, it took alot longer than expected as I realised I would have to paint the rainbow below and not just rely on the buttons!
