If you’re a black person doing this, would you wear a Sambo costume for Holloween? An Uncle Tom costume? A slave costume? No. Absolutely not. But with this same logic, you’re mostly black, so why not? Just because you’re 1/8 Cherokee on your grandmama’s side doesn’t mean wearing these costumes is okay. I say this as a black woman who does have a bit of NA blood in her. These costumes are caricatures of their people, and an insult to the blood that you claim runs through your veins.
