okay I was talking to a myoot about this a few weeks ago. the absolute sisyphean weight that GA is carrying in this scene because. this is? three seconds of film? and she manages to convey that 1. she’s proud and excited to tell him that she has a date, 2. she wants to appear aloof while doing so, 3. she wants to see how he reacts to this knowledge, then immediately 4. she’s a little embarrassed at having felt all those things because they’re flirty and not professional, so 5. she tries immediately to get a handle on herself and return to being Professional Scully.

Pleased to see the Red Speedo™️ made a TRIUMPHANT return in The Chair on Netflix. ❤️
You guys...yesterday my 10 year old son made reference to classmates "shipping" a boy and a girl in his class. NOTE: he has not yet seen The X Files and had never heard me talk about it too much, aside from naming it as my favorite TV show and perhaps mentioning the names of the main characters.
The way I LAUNCHED into Wise Phile Mode "Do you know the origin of the term 'ship'???????" !!!!
He had the nerve not to believe me ! I'm making him Google it later.
Girls is it a red flag if he thinks i was his father in a past life where he was a polish woman during wwii
I never thought I would be siding with the pope’s involvement in politics and cheering him on. I will say that.
I have not considered myself Catholic since I was 8 years old and they forced me to participate in sacraments that I did not want to..... but damn, Pope Leo is getting me all fired up.

hey yea the xfiles fandom did invent the term ship/shipping! ill cite u the wikipedia paragraph on its etymology as a source :) but theres a bunch more evidence if u wanna look it up!
The usage of the term "ship" in its relationship sense appears to have been originated around 1995 by Internet fans of the TV show The X-Files, who believed that the two main characters, Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, should be engaged in a romantic relationship.[1][2] They called themselves "relationshippers" at first;[1][3][4] then "R'shipper", and finally just "shipper".[4][5][6]
The oldest recorded uses of the noun ship and the noun shipper, according to the Oxford English Dictionary,[7][8][9][10] date back to 1996 postings on the Usenet group alt.tv.x-files;[11] shipping is first attested slightly later, in 1997 and the verb to ship in 1998.[12]
have fun w ur xfiles watching 💗 msr forever
THIS IS SO CRAZYYYYYYYYYYYY omg... msr my loves... invented shipping. i just wtched the moment where mulder says 'if theres an iced tea in that bag it could be love'... WHAT THE HELLLLL is gooing on with these two omg. what a scene that was... excited for them forever
Old timer here. I remember using the term Relationshipper on one of the OG fan pages via Geocities. May have been xfiles.net. I can't remember exactly but they were mostly threads.. Eventually everyone just shortened it to 'Shipper. Probably because long threads were a pain and we were all, even back then, looking for convenience on the internet. While shipping existed before MSR, the term did originate with us XFiles fans. Good times.
keep seeing posts of more people watching the x-files for the first time and it really fills me with joy welcome to hellllllll
LRB but the guys in my mentions on here and on xwitter acting like I’m a fucking moron for caring about the Artemis launch because there are terrible things happening in the world and some of those things had the same starting point as many NASA astronauts and tech (the US military) are just completely missing the point to me. Like. Idk man. There’s a lot of bad in the world. But my politics will not be better, less tainted by the stench of evil, just because I refuse to deny myself the joy and awe and pride at seeing what humans can do. We are stronger and better together—working together, living together, sharing together, loving together—than we ever could be apart. Humans have been around for hundreds of thousands of years and we are the first to see the dark side of the Moon. How can you not be romantic about that.
How can you not feel overwhelmed looking at this. We are a pale blue dot in the cosmos and we’re all in it together. Ad astra per aspera.
Director: All right, so Chris said he wanted sexual tension, but just enough to tease the audience. Keep it light; we still want plausible deniability.
GA+DD: Like this?
Director: 👀😶
GA+DD: ?
Director: ...yes. Just like that. Uh, take ten, everyone.

I was pretty hooked on The X-Files like five minutes into the pilot episode, but once I watched Ice I knew it was gonna be the only thing living in my brain for the foreseeable future (and I was right)
