being in new york hurt so badly after reya left that amari moved away and into a much smaller apartment, one that he hadnāt been able to callĀ āhomeā at any point. it wasnāt enough, though. he kept hoping she would show up, he could almost picture her taking baths or making coffee, and knowing that she wouldnāt be there had started messing up with his head. so much so that he jumped into the opportunity to bring the gym to chicago and manage it himself as though he knew what he was doing.
the new place was starting to grow on him as the minutes went by, the idea of making this city his was something he was very fond of⦠until he straight up crashed with no one but reya. after the collision, he had to take a step back and blink a few times to make sure it was her. it couldnāt be, it couldnāt be.Ā then the otherās voice hit him like a train and it took amari a second to be able to shake himself off the trance he was in.Ā āwhat the⦠fuck?ā he breathed out with difficulty.Ā āyou canāt⦠fuck, what are you⦠chicago, huh?ā
there was a quiet stutter that came from her open mouth before she quickly shut it,Ā āmind your manners and close your mouth,ā echoed in her mind. but that wasnāt the biggest priority she had considering she just rammed into her ex.Ā āi, uh--yeah,ā she nodded,Ā āchicago.ā she rocked on her heels awkwardly as her morning coffee was held right where her necklace was, trying to shield the ring that dangled from it.Ā
reya chewed on her bottom lip, at a loss for words. making an excuse to run would seem like she was avoiding him. and even though she was, she couldnāt bring herself to make one.Ā āwhat, uh, what are you doing here ? arenāt you supposed to be h--,ā the word home almost leaves her lips, but she swallows hard and corrects herself, āin new york ?ā
