Welcome to Rex Noir Art Studio.
I'm Rex Noir—illustrator, writer, musician, comic creator, father of four, lifelong gearhead, fly fisherman, and collector of wonderfully strange ideas.
I'm a landlocked Parrothead making art in Oklahoma while dreaming about desert highways, saltwater tides, old motorcycles, and places where nobody expects you to explain yourself.
This studio exists because life doesn't always go the way we planned.
I've rebuilt more than once.
Chronic illness slowed me down.
Neurodivergence taught me to see the world differently.
Heartbreak taught me what deserves to survive.
Art survived.
So did I.

Some days the work is polished enough to frame.
Some days it's coffee-stained sketches at two in the morning because inspiration doesn't care what time it is.
Sometimes it's motorcycles.
Sometimes it's comics.
Sometimes it's painting trout because the ocean is fourteen hundred miles away.
That's just how creativity works.
Why I Make Art
I believe art is one of the last places where people can still leave fingerprints.
Every illustration here is drawn by hand.
No AI.
No shortcuts.
No prompt farms.
No manufactured creativity.
Just thousands of hours spent learning, failing, improving, and trying again.
The imperfections matter.
The process matters.
The human being behind the work matters.
I'd rather spend twenty hours drawing one honest illustration than thirty seconds generating something that has nothing of me inside it.
The Kind of Place I'm Trying to Build
This isn't just a portfolio.
It's a workshop.
A sketchbook.
A comic shop.
A late-night conversation over coffee.
A place where artists, musicians, gearheads, outsiders, neurodivergent folks, LGBTQ+ people, comic fans, fishermen, road-trippers, and beautifully weird humans can exist without apologizing for taking up space.
You don't have to fit into a box here.
Most of us never did.
Leave the gatekeeping somewhere else.
Bring your curiosity instead.
HOUSE RULES
This studio was built on a few simple ideas.
People deserve respect.
Art deserves honesty.
Consent matters.
Kindness isn't weakness.
You don't have to agree with every opinion you'll find here.
You do have to remember there's another human being on the other side of the screen.
This is a place where curiosity is encouraged.
Questions are welcome.
Different perspectives are welcome.
Constructive criticism is welcome.
Laughing at yourself is highly encouraged.
Gatekeeping isn't.
Bullying isn't.
Harassment isn't.
Nobody owes anyone their time, attention, body, friendship, labor, or emotional energy.
Boundaries are healthy.
"No" is a complete sentence.
If someone asks you to stop, stop.
If someone says they're uncomfortable, listen.
If someone sets a boundary, respect it.
That's true in art.
That's true in kink.
That's true in life.

Commissions help keep the lights on and allow me to continue making independent art.
Please don't ask for free artwork.
I'm always willing to discuss a budget, but this is how I support my family and my studio.
To begin any commission I'll need clear photo references (selfies or detailed reference images).
Digital Painting Rates (USD)
Basic Outline — $50
Flat Colors — $75
Full Color + Shading — $125
Complex illustrations, comic pages, commercial licensing, and highly detailed pieces are quoted individually.
Payment is accepted through PayPal or Venmo (USD).
Full payment is required before work begins.
Typical turnaround is around two weeks depending on complexity.
Art is a luxury—not an emergency.
If today isn't the right time, that's okay.
