Multimedia Production: INFORMATION RESEARCH
What is Multimedia? Multimedia is a platform of visual and audio communication which uses a variety of methods of presentation. It can be divided into two categories:
Linea- This is where the multimedia piece is shown in a structured, chronological order, and the viewer is unable to interact with the piece. For example, a cinema movie.
Non-Linea- In Non-Linea pieces, there is no set structure, the viewer is able to control how long they see a particular part of the piece and they can often go back and forth between clips. Types of Multimedia:
visual art that changes over a duration of time
The way of displaying text rather than statically by paper
a way to use sound to enhance an emotion or provide information
a series of still images (Photo-montages)
animation
video footage
interactive information
film essays
stories
Types of sound: There are two types of sound in context to multimedia, they are:
Diagetic- The sound which already exists while filming
Non- Diagetic- The sound you add to the film to enhance the experience and make it more powerful.
