Schlatt didn’t have to go far to pick Wil up for their date, considering they did live together, just down the hall to ask if he was ready to go.
Schlatt wore a silky, midnight blue button down and black pants and jacket to match. He had a pair of gold caps on the ends of his large horns, and his watch along with a few rings.
He knocked on the bedroom door “Can I come in?”

"Yeah, sure, nothin' you ain't seen before ehehe" he turned his head over his shoulder to call out through the door.
Wil was wearing dark brown flared slacks and was donned in most of his nature themed jewelry, to blend in with the locals of course. He didn't have a shirt on yet, but he had a deep sage green tweed jacket set aside on the bed to go along with the slacks. The long scars in the middle of his back seemed more irritated than usual. It was leaned in front of a mirror on the dresser still applying some makeup. Wil wiped away the running eyeliner with a tissue as he had nearly poked his watery eye, "Ugghhh.. I don't know what shirt to wear. I just want to look good for our anniversary, y'know?"
Schlatt chuckled as he entered the room, walking over to his boyfriend and pressing a kiss behind his ear. “You’re going to look gorgeous no matter what.” He flirted an assured. Schlatt took a step back to admire what parts of the outfit Wil had already put together. In doing so he also noted the irritated scars, wondering if perhaps Wil had rubbed against something. “Maybe a cream colored or light brown shirt if you have something like that?” It wasn’t very often that they got the chance to dress up nice and Schlatt was excited for the chance
Wil watched the man approach him in the mirror and leaned back into him as the nape of its neck was kissed. A hum left sol as a soft smile pulled at solari's lips. "You are way too kind, my ambrosia. Thank you so much. You look very suave yourself."
Noticing Schlatt wanted to take a better look at him he did a few poses. He batted his eyelashes playfully, and arched his back as he stretched, but stretching caused an odd twinge of pain in his back. Wilson hissed through his teeth as quiet as possible so as to not make Schlatt worry.
"I should be able to find a good cream color shirt or two." Getting distracted from his makeup he moved to the closet to fish out a shirt that would best fit the jacket. "Man, I hope the food is good, I'm praying they don't overuse truffle oil in everything. I wouldn't mind truffle salt or just shaved truffle, feels sort of par for the course given that we are going to 'fungus land', but no one uses truffle oil properly. I hope they have other fancy mushrooms. I haven't had a morel or oyster mushroom in far too long. Did you know that oyster mushrooms are carnivorous?" Wilson had gone on many a rant about fungus to Schlatt before, so he had become comfortable talking about things of the like without worrying that the other would think of him as weird for it.
Finally he pulled out a somewhat light peach colored dress shirt and held it out to Schlatt, "Ah-ha, here. What do you think of this? Not exactly what I had in mind though. I can't remember, I have a green tie somewhere, right? Gah– I'm sorry I'm taking forever to get ready."
He gave a small laugh “I am not too kind to you. I treat you as well as I can and I gave you a very true compliment.” He pressed another kiss, this time to Wil’s cheek. “Thank you dove” Schlatt tilted his head slightly to watch the room’s light glint off the gold jewelry
He watched stel pose but did catch the way star hissed in pain. “Your back been bothering you?” Schlatt had not been given a super detailed version of the story, but he knew what had happened for the twin scars to appear. He’d also known Wil long enough to remember a time before the scars.
Schlatt sat down at the end of their bed while Wil dug through the closet. He far from minded the rant, both of them were inclined to go on tangents at times. “It should be good, I haven’t heard any complaints. I’d be surprised if they didn’t have any other kinds of nice mushrooms, it’s pretty much their whole shtick. I didn’t know that. How’s that supposed to work?”
“That’d look good, if you’ve got something else in mind pull it out too.” He said with an approving nod “I remember you having a green tie at one point; it should still be in there. You’re fine, toots, we don’t have to go for a little bit”
"Doesn't mean I'm used to it just yet." Wil turned his head to give him a peck on the lips. "Of course, my rammy."
Wil smiled with closed eyes, "Just a bit, don't worry about me. It's been aching since I woke up. Just one of those days, y'know?" He rolled his shoulders, trying to stretch out the pain.
"That's what I'm sayin'! If they don't have at least two kinds of mushrooms I'm gonna fist fight the chef in the parking lot."
Wilson shifts his weight repeatedly to sway like he did back when he had a tail. "They're covered in a digestive slime to kill microscopic roundworms called nematodes. A third of the nematode species are parasitic, so I would imagine the oyster mushrooms are beneficial in that regard of reducing parasites."
"Ah, I found it," Wil also pulled out an eggshell white long sleeve ruffle shirt and set the shirts side by side. His green tie was hooked on his wrist. "I figured this other shirt was too much, like helloo, the 70s called.. Although, I figured I might be able to get away with it considering we're blowing through hippietown. I am glad we have a little time beforehand, sweetheart. When did we make the reservation again?"
“Well get used to it” Schlatt teased, returning the kiss
“Need me to get you something for it? We’re gonna be walking around a lot.” Old battle wounds, injuries not 100% healed by revival, and other chronic pains meant that the revived men’s household rarely lacked some form of pain medicine or health potion.
“Hah it’d be a fitting way for us to spend our anniversary at least. Pretty sure "Wil and Jay vs whatever poor fuck wronged them" could be the title of a few different chapters in our lives”
Schlatt smiled as he watched Wil, it was nice seeing them get so excited to talk about something. “Huh, sounds like a good one to keep around. You said they’re fine for us to eat though?”
He stood up to get a better look at the two shirt, then shrugged. “It’s a little retro, but I doubt you’ll stick that much. It might go better with the greens too. The reservations for seven; I figured we might take a walk around for a bit afterwards”

Jay, who has 100% thought about just chopping all his hair off: um, yeah, yeah I’ve considered it once or twice.. easier to manage maybe. Yours looks good though, wouldn’t’ve guess you did it yourself
Wil: Naturally.... Oh yeah, for sure, for sure. It's made washing my hair so much less of a hassle, my curls tangle very easily, and I have saved soo much on conditioner. Awwwh, thank you! You think so?.. I was tired of going to the salon and being disappointed every time when my hair had not come out the way I imagined. I just think about cutting my hair like sculpting with scissors kinda. The angle of the scissors and how you hold strands of your hair is pretty important... When you imagine your hair short, what would you want it to look like?
Jay: I’ve had that problem before,anymore I just tell them to take a couple inches off every now and again, anything else and I come out with something completely random. Haven’t tried doing it myself, not since I was a little kid with safety scissors at least. Ha, got in so much trouble for that.

Wil: Bro, no way, I got in so much trouble for that too–though I just cut off a singular curl. I just wanted to see what the curl at the back of my head looked like, and I'm sure Phil & Tech still have that shit in a little box somewhere. Techno broke the handle of some kitchen shears on a ponytail trying to cut my hair short for the first time. The shears didn't cut all the way through so I was stuck with a shitty half bob until Techno booked a hair appointment. I walked out of the salon looking like Ellen™️ even though I showed the stylist a picture of NOT that. Dude, I cried so hard afterwards. Even as a kid I hated getting my hair cut, I mean I practically had a fear of it, then I realized a few things about I want to be perceived. I think part of my fear of salons was the fear of change, that one always gets me when I least expect it. My hair used to go past my back at one point, I was trying to grow it as long as possible, then I realized I was significantly happier with it shorter. It's funny how my hair will get longer again and I won't even realize how it affected my mood until I cut it again. The first time I saw my hair the way I imagined, I sobbed happy tears, no joke.
[Wil takes mental note of the length he wants it cut to.] Below or above the hair tie? Would you like the sides shorter than the top?.. I can cut it now if you want me to? I just need a comb, and some sharp scissors. I can sharpen some if need be. I think you would look really awesome with short hair.
Jay: My hair kept getting in my face and stuck around my horns while I was playing so I hacked it off real short. I was grounded for two weeks; I’m pretty sure even my sister got in trouble for that because she didn’t stop me. Ended up with something like a pixie cut from them trying to even it out. Ma put so many bows in my hair until it grew back, I look like one of those creepy dolls in half the pictures from that year. Man they did you so dirty, I’d cry too if I walked out of a salon looking like Ellen. I guess your perception thing worked, I can’t imagine you looking much different than you do. I get that though, I think, wanting to be seen a certain way.
Above the hair tie and just a little shorter on the sides. Oh! ..Nah i shouldn’t. I mean I’d let you, I’m sure it’d look good, but my parents would be so mad if I cut my hair that short. I can’t go much shorter than this without Ma getting all pissed off.

I liked my long hair, but I just wasn't happy with my appearance while it was long. I couldn't place the feeling at the time, but my haircut changed the way I felt about my face. I actually started feeling like I wasn't really ugly anymore and like my face actually started to belong to me. Turns out dysphoria can really alter how you percieve your own face. I mean I still feel a lot of dysphoria about my face, but it's significantly less now.
Fuck what your parents want, dude, like they know anything about what looks good on you in your opinion? You can fully blame me and say I pranked you while you were sleeping over at my place. I'm totally willing to take the fall for that. Plus, I'm cute, how mad can they get? Or.... this may be a dumb idea, but what if I cut it shorter a little every time we hang out until we get to the length you want it at? Ripping the bandaid off and using plausible deniability might be your best bet I think.
Eh, my parents are big fans of group punishment. Getting grounded isn’t that big a deal, happens all the time. Besides, we’re basically free to do whatever when they’re gone. I’m sure you looked good with the long hair, but I think the short hair suits you. *Jay didn’t say much while Wil talked about his dysphoria, but listened with an oddly thoughtful look*

Phil or Tech try often to ground me, but I manage to guilt trip them out of getting grounded about a third of the time like– hey if you're gonna guilt trip me don't be surprised when I start using your techniques. Also.... I kinda just usually don't listen anymore once they tell me what's restricted. Ah– thank you, I think it does too. [A flustered smile sprawled across Wilson's face.]

Jay: damn I wish that worked on my parents. I can sometimes get Ma to feel bad and go easy on me, but most of the time I just wait until they’re not around to do what I want. Half the time they take my things it’s just sitting in their room or the office. I don’t know why they haven’t just given up yet, I haven’t changed yet I’m not going to. No problem man.

He knocked on the bedroom door “Can I come in?”

Wil was wearing dark brown flared slacks and was donned in most of his nature themed jewelry, to blend in with the locals of course. He didn't have a shirt on yet, but he had a deep sage green tweed jacket set aside on the bed to go along with the slacks. The long scars in the middle of his back seemed more irritated than usual. It was leaned in front of a mirror on the dresser still applying some makeup. Wil wiped away the running eyeliner with a tissue as he had nearly poked his watery eye, "Ugghhh.. I don't know what shirt to wear. I just want to look good for our anniversary, y'know?"
Schlatt chuckled as he entered the room, walking over to his boyfriend and pressing a kiss behind his ear. “You’re going to look gorgeous no matter what.” He flirted an assured. Schlatt took a step back to admire what parts of the outfit Wil had already put together. In doing so he also noted the irritated scars, wondering if perhaps Wil had rubbed against something. “Maybe a cream colored or light brown shirt if you have something like that?” It wasn’t very often that they got the chance to dress up nice and Schlatt was excited for the chance
Wil watched the man approach him in the mirror and leaned back into him as the nape of its neck was kissed. A hum left sol as a soft smile pulled at solari's lips. "You are way too kind, my ambrosia. Thank you so much. You look very suave yourself."
Noticing Schlatt wanted to take a better look at him he did a few poses. He batted his eyelashes playfully, and arched his back as he stretched, but stretching caused an odd twinge of pain in his back. Wilson hissed through his teeth as quiet as possible so as to not make Schlatt worry.
"I should be able to find a good cream color shirt or two." Getting distracted from his makeup he moved to the closet to fish out a shirt that would best fit the jacket. "Man, I hope the food is good, I'm praying they don't overuse truffle oil in everything. I wouldn't mind truffle salt or just shaved truffle, feels sort of par for the course given that we are going to 'fungus land', but no one uses truffle oil properly. I hope they have other fancy mushrooms. I haven't had a morel or oyster mushroom in far too long. Did you know that oyster mushrooms are carnivorous?" Wilson had gone on many a rant about fungus to Schlatt before, so he had become comfortable talking about things of the like without worrying that the other would think of him as weird for it.
Finally he pulled out a somewhat light peach colored dress shirt and held it out to Schlatt, "Ah-ha, here. What do you think of this? Not exactly what I had in mind though. I can't remember, I have a green tie somewhere, right? Gah– I'm sorry I'm taking forever to get ready."
He gave a small laugh “I am not too kind to you. I treat you as well as I can and I gave you a very true compliment.” He pressed another kiss, this time to Wil’s cheek. “Thank you dove” Schlatt tilted his head slightly to watch the room’s light glint off the gold jewelry
He watched stel pose but did catch the way star hissed in pain. “Your back been bothering you?” Schlatt had not been given a super detailed version of the story, but he knew what had happened for the twin scars to appear. He’d also known Wil long enough to remember a time before the scars.
Schlatt sat down at the end of their bed while Wil dug through the closet. He far from minded the rant, both of them were inclined to go on tangents at times. “It should be good, I haven’t heard any complaints. I’d be surprised if they didn’t have any other kinds of nice mushrooms, it’s pretty much their whole shtick. I didn’t know that. How’s that supposed to work?”
“That’d look good, if you’ve got something else in mind pull it out too.” He said with an approving nod “I remember you having a green tie at one point; it should still be in there. You’re fine, toots, we don’t have to go for a little bit”
