our home will be a peaceful one.

there won't be silent treatments. we won't stop talking to punish each other or make the other person guess what's wrong. if we're hurt, we'll talk. if we're overwhelmed, we'll say it. if one of us needs reassurance, we'll give it freely. i never want either of us to wonder where we stand with each other.

i want our home to feel emotionally safe.

i want our pets to grow up watching us love each other. they'll always find us kissing in the kitchen, hugging for no reason, cuddling on the sofa while they climb all over us.

there'll always be soft music playing. sometimes it'll be something calm while we're cooking or cleaning together. sometimes we'll turn the volume up and dance around the house for absolutely no reason.

but no matter what, our home will never be loud with anger.

it'll be loud with joy.

we'll invite our loved ones over. i want our home to be the place where the people who genuinely love us feel comfortable, where everyone leaves feeling a little lighter than when they arrived.

and then there'll be nights where it's just us.

we'll take a pizza box up to the rooftop. i'll bring myself a beer, and i'll bring whatever you'd like to drink. we'll sit under the stars, talking about everything and nothing at all.

i don't think we'll ever run out of things to say.

i want to hear about your day, your thoughts, the things that made you smile, the things that made you cry, the memories that suddenly came back to you.. everything.

and i hope you'll always want to hear mine too.

baby, i don't want us to carry our childhood wounds into the home we build together. i know we can't erase where we've come from, but i hope we can heal enough that our home feels different.

i want it to be the place we both needed when we were younger.

i'll tell the dumbest jokes you've ever heard, and you'll probably laugh more because they're terrible than because they're actually funny.

seeing you giggle will never get old to me.

i'll carry you around the house just because i can. i want you to play with my hair while we're lying together. i want you to kiss me whenever you feel like it. cling to me when you need me.

we'll watch our favourite shows for the hundredth time and somehow still end up analyzing every little scene like it's the first time we've seen it.

and if we put on a movie, there's a very good chance i'll fall asleep on you before it's over.

you'll gently play with my hair, smile to yourself, and eventually whisper, "baby.. wake up. let's go to bed."

i think that's the love i've been dreaming about all my life.
