Getting attacked by the horde of zombies is thrilling and having other people to help you complete each stage is definitely better than playing by yourself. And let's not forget the versus mode. I really never thought attacking survivors from the different team can be very exciting. Being one of those special infected characters can be really fun, and sometimes more fun than killing zombies. That is one of the features that cannot be experienced completely if you are not playing multiplayer online.
