Episode 18: Reseverse Top-Ten Television Comedies
The only reason this show is rounding out the top-ten is because...there's a lot good comedy out there. I think Tina Fey is a great funny writer and her Liz Lemon is all nerdysexyfunny! Alec Baldwin does one of the best straight man comedy. His subtlety is prime. The rest of the ensemble, of course, all have strong personalities to make a hilariously bizarre show.
Choice Lines: "I don't drink hot liquids of any kind. That's the Devil's temperature!" ~Kenneth
"Hey, nerds! Who's got two thumbs, speaks limited French, and hasn't cried once today? This moi." ~Liz
Some may say, Three's Company, is a crap show made up of repetitiveness. To those I say....Well, yes. I can see that, however, it's hilarious and John Ritter's brand of physical comedy...is brilliant. Also, shout out to Norman Fell's Mr. Roper...I can see him clear as day with that cheesy ass grin after making a funny.
Choice Lines: [Furley listens in as Jack & Chrissy are fixing the showercurtain in the bathroom]
Jack: OK Chrissy, I'll go in the tub with you so we can get it on.
Chrissy: Give that to me so I can show you what to do.
Jack: This isn't exactly the first time I've ever done this.
Chrissy: Maybe so, but girls are better then boys [at it].
Jack: Come on Chrissy, a little less talk and a little more action.
Chrissy: Okay, you do your part and I'll do mine [Looks at Showercurtain] I don't think it'll reach!
Or, These Friends Of Mine, for the first season. Ellen Morgan with her social awkwardness really spoke to me...and that was before the grand coming out episode and every gay woman getting a toaster oven. It was mostly about the rambling.
Choice Line: "This is, uh, this is so hard. But I I I I think I've realized that I am... I can't even say the word. Why can't I say the word? I mean, why can't I just say... I mean, what is wrong? Why do I have to be so ashamed? I mean, why can't I just say the truth? I mean, be who I am. I'm thirty-five-years-old. I'm so afraid to tell people." ~ Ellen Morgan
Audrey: So, what should we call you, gay or lesbian?
Ellen: How about "Ellen"?
The show about nothing. Although, it wasn't exactly about nothing, it was about nothing particular in the lives of these four dysfunctional friends. Nothing has never been so funny with Kramer's complete and utter cluelessness, Elaine's dancing, Jerry's commitment issues, and well, George's whole life.
George Costanza: Hi, my name is George, I'm unemployed and I live with my parents.
Elaine: [making a toast] Here's to those who wish us well, and those who don't can go to hell.
Jerry: Looking at cleavage is like looking at the sun. You don't stare at it. It's too risky. Ya get a sense of it and then you look away.
Cosmo Kramer: It's a Festivus miracle.
Roseanne was such a funny and real show when I was a kid. There was never a lot in the Conner home and often times there were struggles of making ends meet but there was always laughter and love. It was so much more realistic than the Huxtables.
[during a tornado]
Jackie: Roseanne, I wanna live.
Roseanne: Think it over.
Roseanne: That is not funny! You're grounded until menopause!
Darlene: Yours or mine?
Roseanne: Your father's!
Ensemble cast of greatness that is gone now but most of the cast continued to more greatness. One of the funniest shows in all of television history. I still do "That's what she said" nearly on a daily basis.
Jim Halpert: Question. What kind of bear is best?
Dwight Schrute: That's a ridiculous question.
Jim Halpert: False. Black bear.
Dwight Schrute: That's debatable. There are basically two schools of thought--
Jim Halpert: Fact. Bears eat beets. Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica.
Dwight Schrute: Bears do not... What is going on?! What are you doing?!
And that is the random shit that I love.
I'll be there for you...and they always were there for me. This show about the six twentysomething year olds lives as friends, lovers and family through ten years of jobs, marriage, break-ups, births, meals, holidays...makes the blues go away.
Joey Tribbiani: How you doin'?
Chandler Bing: I'm not so good with the advice... Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment?
Funniest show on television right now! Leslie Knope is the star...the lead...the head honcho but Andy with his dim wit, April with her sarcasm and Ron with his Ronnisms have my heart. And Chris...I miss you and Anne.
April: I don't care about that prize. But I'm gonna win because I want his happiness to go away,
Tammy: I will defeat you. I will defeat you right into my pants.
Ron: Never half-ass two things. Whole-ass one thing.
Who doesn't love old lady best friends! They're hilarious. Sophie has some real zingers. They all do.
Blanche: I treat my body like a temple.
Sophia: Yeah, open to everyone, day or night.
Rose: I just had a thought...
Sophia, Dorothy, Blanche: Congratulations.
NUMBER 1. Absolutely Fabulous
Fabulous Sweetie Darlin'. These women are my future. Drinking, smoking, drugging, adventures, drunken hilarity and walking up and asking, "Where the hell am I?"
Eddie: What do you think of the kitchen, Pats?
Patsy: I think it's fabulous.
Saffie: It isn't done yet.
Eddie: No, sweetie. Maybe she's right. Maybe this IS fabulous.
Eddie: Patsy hasn't eaten since 1974.
Patsy: A crisp, darling. A crisp.
Actually, the following will probably be my future....:
