Helen was out to get hotdogs from the stand–because as much as she loved Miss Minnx and her cooking, nothing quite beat a fresh and terrible hotdog. She was up to order when she noticed out of the corner of her eye that a pretty lady had dropped some papers.
“Wait!” She called out, stopping to pick up the papers before heading after the woman. She tugged on the back of her shirt, not sure how else to get her attention. “These look important!”
‘If I get this over there right now, then it should be all ready for tomorrow,’ she thought to herself, trying to juggle her folder and cellphone and coffee and purse at the same time. ‘And if I get this over there right now I’ll still have time for--’
Her thoughts were cut short by a tug on her shirt, and a small voice. She stopped in her tracks, turning around and blinking down for a second before it processed. She had almost lost it after all that work.
“Oh! Thank you, sweetheart!” She shifted everything into her left arm precariously in order to extend her right hand to accept the dropped paper, “I owe you big time-- are your parents around?”
