Hey you!

One day you will find the person you've been waiting for. One day you will find a person who just feels right. One day you will meet a person who looks at you like no one has before. Their gaze will remind you of your strength. Their touch will remind you of your courage and your softness. One day you will find the person who will understand you. They will calm your storms, but never your chaos. They will cease your madness, and provide you with unlimited happiness. They will understand your silence, and will celebrate your accomplishments. One day you will find the person who compliments your life. They will never try and change you, or tear you down. They will be gentle. They will be kind. They will love you for who, and what you are. They will be proud of you, and never dare to hide you from the world. One day you will find the person who you will fall madly in love with.

We spend a lot of our idle time waiting—in traffic, in line, in anticipation of something big, something great. We get impatient, we lose our temper, we get angry. We don't understand why we have to wait so much all the time.

And sometimes that rage is valid. When we wait for three hours in line only be told when it's your turn that it's time to close shop. Please come back after lunch break. Or when we leave hours and hours before we need to be somewhere only to have the theater close the doors right before we step in. And we're disappointed and mad and we blame ourselves for not thinking ahead, for not having a back-up plan.

But then there are those moments when it's always worth the wait. When you waited 9 months for your baby sister to finally be born. You fell in love the moment you laid your eyes on her. When you waited what seemed like forever for your prom date to pick you up. (Let's be honest, it was only 30 minutes.) It was one of the best nights of your life and you'll remember it forever. When you waited for four years to graduate high school and the proud smile on your parents' lips more than made up for over 200 weeks of staying up late and figuring out algebra. When you waited to open that letter from your dream college you applied for (it arrived 4 weeks ago) and you finally found out you got in on scholarship. When you waited to get into a relationship. It doesn't matter that you waited while everyone else was pressuring you to like the next guy who came along. You waited and you met the love of your life and you know that he'll be the person you'll grow old with. When you waited till the very last moment to send in your Council of Cool or Candymag.com Correspondents application because you wanted to make sure it was your best work yet. It was worth it when you saw your very first byline in the magazine or on the website.

I’m in a transition period in my life and truthfully, I absolutely hate it. My mom tells me that life gets boring, that boring is good and it’s just what happens. I love her, but she’s wrong.

Life is not supposed to be boring, life is supposed to be incredible. You’re supposed to take risks and chances. You’re supposed to do things that people tell you are impossible. You’re supposed to do things that you love in a world that tells you that you should just pay bills and die.

I refuse to let that be my life. I refuse to wake up, spend my time commuting through traffic to work a 9-5 job I hate to come back home to watch TV and sleep, maybe hit the gym and cook dinner.

That’s not living, that’s being a zombie just aimlessly going through each day with no thrills and no adventure. That’s spending five days hating your life waiting for the two days on the weekend to do nothing but catch up on cleaning, sleep and errands. That’s not living.

Life isn’t supposed to be boring or easy, it’s supposed to be filled with highs and lows. Life is suppose to challenge you and make you stronger because those lows you hit only build up the highs.

I refuse to be one of those people who spend their entire year waiting to take their one week vacation. I want to live a life I don’t need to take a vacation from because it’s so fulfilling. And it’s possible, it really is. All you need is a dream and a plan to get out of the hole you’re in and move forward towards what you really want.

There is so much more to life than working a job you hate. It’s one thing if the job you hate allows you to do the things you enjoy in life, like money for travel or maybe a new car that you’ve been wanting, but if it doesn’t serve you in that way either, why they hell are you still there?

I hate to break it to you, but life isn’t meant to be lived just going through the motions. There is so many wonderful, fulfilling opportunities in the world and saying “it’s just a job” is probably the worst mindset you could have. That job you’re working is where you spend around 40 hours a week, that’s a lot of time you’re suffering through when you could find something much more enjoyable that you love. And it is possible to find a career you absolutely love.

Someone I went to college with tweeted “I think my favorite thing about my new job is that the paper towel dispenser actually gives you a reasonable amount of paper.”

WHAT?

The best thing about your job should be the work you’re doing. It should be feeling like you’re making a difference, that you’re needed and doing something you love. It should be the creative minds you’re surrounded with and the support you feel.

Your life shouldn’t feel trapped in a job, you shouldn’t be miserable going to work everyday because there are other alternatives. There are other jobs, more fulfilling jobs than what you’re currently doing.

If you’re not doing something that makes you happy then you’re wasting your life.

Not everyone can change their life, some people will never leave their job and that’s fine, someone has to do the work. But it’s possible to be a lot happier and live a more fulfilling life – that change just has to start with you.

You really don’t need a lot to be happy, but most people think they do. They think the more they have the happier they will be, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Things aren’t the key to happiness, the more you possess doesn’t meant the more entitled to feeling happy you will be. Honestly, the more you own the more stressful your life is. The more you have the more cluttered your life will be, and the more cluttered your mind will be.

The truth is those who live simply sleep more soundly.

Everyone has so much potential to live the life they’ve always wanted, but most people just stop trying to get there before they ever really start. Failure is inevitable, but if you stop trying to get up because it seems to hard then you’ll never get up. Only if you keep trying will you have a chance to better your life so don’t give up because your life isn’t meant to be boring. You are born to do so much more than pay bills and die. There’s a whole life between that and it’s waiting for you.
