NEW YORK CITY by RENÉ NUIJENS (1993)

In 1993 I stayed for 3 month in downtown New York during my study at the Royal Art Academy in Den Hague (the Netherlands). I had a Nikon F2 with a broken curtain so I could not look too long through the shutter otherwise the pictures would have become black. I had my own technique with taking off the lens cap real fast off and on. I did not dare (or did not have the confidence) then to ask people to pose for me so I just passed by very quickly and disappeared as fast as I can. I shot about 30 rolls of film. I did not have the money to shoot more.
