If you've somehow stumbled onto this blog, hello! This originally started as a sideblog for headcanons and au ideas revolving around Giratina, Volo, and Akari (and their respective polycule), but has since expanded to include more pokémon-inspired characters as well. These days it's mostly become a place for me to ramble about whatever AU I currently got kicking around in my brain. With occasional bits of art, memes, and smutty headcanons.
And on that topic: this is an 18+ blog. It's not all NSFW stuff here but I post about it often enough. I try to tag things as mature where applicable, but you have been warned. And this of course should go without saying, but MINORS DNI.
Asks are open and encouraged! I'm always down to chat about Giratina, Volo, Akari, or whatever characters/AU I'm currently obsessed with. And if you're ever curious about an AU I'm posting about, feel free to ask about it!
That said I know I got a lot of characters/AUs bouncing around here and it can be A Lot™ to get into, so if you want the rundown (and don't want to spend hours reading through the various AU tags), here's a quick cheat sheet for new followers.

Dom!Volo is a lot fun but I think he also deserves to get hit with the uno reverse card every once in a while and turn into a submissive malewife who spends most of his time getting pegged by Akari.
That conversation with Akari’s mom later on is gonna be interesting…
Wait does Akari get to use her husband to fight? It would be kinda funny if she one-ups Cynthia with a mirror match using a shiny togekiss. Volo getting really fierce about it cause she looks like him so he’s very very territorial about it, Cynthia’s own togekiss is amused…
Eh that conversation is probably not going to happen given that Akari is not on speaking terms with her mom in 99% of my AUs, for reasons I'm not going to dive into here (but if you want to know more then hey maybe you should read Tightening the Hinge because I've spent literally 2 years of my life on it and it's really good I promise)
Lmao funnily enough I feel like Akari would be hesitant to use Volo in battle whereas he's continually trying to talk her into it, like "pleeeeease let me show off what a good and strong mate I am, I'll destroy all your opponents and together we'll be unstoppable, please I just want to fight at your sideeee 🥺"

Honestly i completely forgot anime dawn had a piplup and just defaulted to my personal starter choice for sinnoh and one of the two guaranteed steel types in the main story
Glad to see she has some protection from her fae soon to be husband’s antics… though i figure she cares a little less day by day… mmm corruption
Lmao there's definitely an element of Akari being like "I should NOT be so okay with this, holy fuck," but Volo gave her such kicked puppy eyes after she smacked him and looked genuinely confused by how upset she was. He just wants to make her happy! Didn't she feel so good with him? Doesn't she want to keep feeling so good?
Akari has to take a few breaths to calm down before sternly explaining to Volo that it's nice that he fell in love at first sight, but humans don't work that way. And if he wants to make this marriage work he needs to slow the fuck down and take his time romancing her first before he starts kidnapping her off to his nest.
...It does not occur to her until later that she never actually said no to the whole "married" thing, but by that point Volo has negotiated a more permanent spot as her travel companion so he can focus on properly wooing her and she's not very inclined to argue...
Oh i adore that togekiss!volo au… love me a lil fucked up fae mentality, and yea emotions running stronger with them makes sense due to several dex entries talking about emotional sensitivity, and several evolve through friendship or affection!
Really really great take on all that, love it to bits, if Akari really needs to put Volo in his place when he gets a bit too energetic for her liking she probably has good old empoleon at the ready
Fucked up fae mentalities are SO much fun to play with! Especially with all the emotion-based lore surrounding fairy types, and playing around with Togekiss's "blessing of happiness" to literally be pheromone-induced bliss was just irresistible to me...
Also lmao fun fact my Akari actually has Infernape as her starter in modern AUs. I know Empoleon is considered default but I wanted to set her apart from the fanon "Anime Dawn" interpretation (also Infernape is my favorite of the Sinnoh starter trio, love that monkey to bits).
Akari's modern team does also include a Luxray, Abomasnow, and Lucario tho so she has coverage options to smack Volo's ass for plenty of super-effective damage!
Alright I've alluded to it a few times but I feel like it deserves a proper post, so here we go, that Togekiss!Volo AU:
(Warning for stalking, drugging, kidnapping, dubcon, and overall my most yandere take on Volo to date)
Modern AU setting, Akari is a trainer out traveling through a remote area when she finds another trainer trying to catch a shiny Togekiss. Said Togekiss is clearly in distress and does not want to be caught, but the other trainer has it paralyzed/down to 1 HP and keeps chucking balls anyway.
Akari immediately reacts like "HEY WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING" and chases the other trainer off before tending to the poor Togekiss. It's still very freaked out and wary around her at first, but she does her best to soothe it, patches it up with a full restore, and gives it some berries for the road. Togekiss takes the berries and gets the fuck out of there at lightspeed.
Later on Akari drops into a pokémon ranger station to report the incident because she's still worried about the Togekiss. The rangers on duty are like "oh right, that one. Yeah we know that Togekiss, he's been nesting around this area for a while. We'll try to check up on him but he's an elusive fucker who refuses to get close to humans if he can help it, so no promises."
Akari thanks them, turns to go, and on the way out the door she literally runs into a gorgeous blond stranger holding a Togepi.
Said stranger apologizes for bumping into her and introduces himself as Volo. They have a meet-cute conversation where Volo says he's just an unassuming hiker traveling through the area, and when he learns that she's a capable trainer he asks if she'd be open to traveling together for a bit. Akari agrees (partly because GOD this man is gorgeous) and the two set off together.
The pair spend about a week traveling together, during which Volo seems delighted by her company and Akari keeps getting oddly-lightheaded around him. Not much, just an overall giddy feeling she chalks it up to a latent crush. Her pokémon also seem weirdly taken with him, but she figures it's just because he's got a knack for pokémon, so she does her best to ignore it and just enjoy being around her new traveling companion.
Then one night during some late-night campfire bonding, the pair wind up talking about his Togepi. Volo says that he's been raising her on his own for a few years now, ever since her mother was killed by a human poacher, and although he loves her she is also VERY needy and high maintenance. She basically doesn't trust anyone but Volo to handle her and he admits that he hasn't gotten a good night's sleep in years.
To which Akari says "do you want me to try looking after her for a bit? Just so you can get some rest?"
Although he's a bit hesitant, Volo hands Togepi over to see how it goes. Upon which Togepi takes a minute to consider things, chirps, and happily snuggles down in Akari's arms.
Needless to say, Volo is relieved almost to the point of tears and promptly goes to crash onto his bedroll for the first proper night of sleep in a long while.
The next morning Volo is in even higher spirits than usual, and suddenly insists on Akari joining him for a "detour" to some ruins in the area. Akari finds this a bit unusual, but the lightheadedness is also much more pronounced than unusual so she goes along with it. She doesn't think much of things as Volo begins leading her far off the beaten path and into an ancient cave system cut into a nearby mountainside. It isn't until Volo brings her to the heart of the caves and she finds a ruin chamber full of books, knick-knacks, and a massive nest of pillows that she realizes something is up.
Akari: "...What is this?"
Volo: "My nest. Or should I say, our nest :)"
Then next thing Akari knows she's flat on her back in said nest with Volo looming over her, and holy shit those are wings coming out of his back. Those are Togekiss wings. Shiny Togekiss wings.
She doesn't get a chance to to react before Volo starts rambling about what's going on. Turns out, in addition to gaining a human form when they grow old enough, a Togekiss can and will fall in love with someone at first sight (because emotions run MUCH stronger in fairy types), and he knew from basically the moment Akari helped him that she was destined to be his mate. In fact he would have taken her sooner if there wasn't his little sister to worry about -- because oh yeah, did he mention that Togepi is actually his sister? Whom he has been raising alone ever since poachers killed their mother?
Anyways he was naturally hesitant about bringing a new mate into the family, and he was unsure if he could really love a human after what happened to his mother, so he figured he'd give it a week, scope Akari out and see how things went--
But hey! It's fine! Togepi adores her! So now Volo has nothing to stop him from claiming his mate as intended!
Akari tries to struggle, but the light-headedness is even stronger than before and all her movements feel sluggish. Volo explains this as Togekiss's inherent "blessing of happiness," i.e. the ambient pheromones a Togekiss gives off when around someone they like. That's why she's been giddy and light-headed all week. He's literally been hotboxing her with happy chemicals.
Oh, and not only are those pheromones are extremely potent when a Togekiss is in love, but Volo himself is not immune to them.
Basically - Volo is high as a fucking kite on his own supply.
So needless to say, a drugged-up Akari is powerless to stop an equally drugged-up Volo who is now so in love with her he's lost all sense of reason. He still wants to make sure she feels good though! He's a considerate mate!
So he just. Takes a vial of aphrodisiac. Drinks it. And then kisses half of it into her mouth. So now they're both drugged up and too fucking horny to think.
Long story short they spend Arceus knows how long fucking each other senseless until Akari literally passes out from the bliss. When she wakes up she's still in the nest with Volo snuggled up beside her, one of his wings draped over her like a blanket. He's also got Togepi on her chest and is softly cooing to her like "yes, this is your new big sister~ We're going to be a family now, all three of us. Isn't that just wonderful?"
Akari takes all this in and promises herself she's going to smack the shit outta Volo later. But right then... well, she wouldn't mind if this moment lasts just a little bit longer...
If Volo and Akari got turned into pokemon, what would they be? And how does the local god of distortion react?
Akari would be a Zorua/Zoroark. Most likely the Hisuian variety. Giratina would be confused and slightly alarmed and fussing over her until they can find a way to turn her back.
Volo... I'm unsure. I feel like there's a bunch of different pokémon he could plausibly turn into. So I'll put it up to you guys:
If Volo got turned into a pokémon, what would he be?

Thinking about Volo in the Platinum AU, specifically when he first started his arrangement with Gris and was getting used to the Platinum Clan.
Volo going into it with the mindset of "this is just a business arrangement, I'm using Giratina just as much as they're no doubt using me." Bracing himself for the clan to be polite but standoffish because he's an outsider. Expecting Gris to show the bare minimum hospitality, and already making schemes for how he can weasel more information out of them and what it might ultimately cost.
Except it's. Not at all like that.
The clan is guarded around him at first, yes, but then Gris publicly states that "he is one of us" and the entire atmosphere shifts. Suddenly they're curious and friendly and going out of their way to welcome him, even when he makes it clear he's not officially joining. Whenever he asks questions about the clan there's always someone ready to answer with enthusiasm. The wardens make a point of seeking him out even outside of the settlement to check in on him and entertain his company.
And then there's Gris. Who welcomes him into their home and pours him tea every time they chat. Who reacts to his endless questions about gods and Celestica with dry amusement, but never hesitates to answer. Who even at his most blasphemous never scolds him with more than a light flick on the nose with their fan.
And more than that, they notice when Volo comes to their meetings more tired than usual. They ask how his work is going and makes veiled threats towards Ginter whenever Volo's job is causing problems for him. They even offer to let him stay overnight in their house so he can get a proper rest, and linger long enough to tell him more about his people's history as the hours run late into the night.
And for Volo, a man who's spent most of his life alone and unwanted, who spends most nights camping on the hard ground because he has no home to call his own, and is always biting his tongue about all these secrets no one else would understand...
Hm… i wonder if caring for her hair invites some form of unconcious trauma with your Akaris considering the particular backstory you’ve given her… maybe that’s why she’s so lazy about it
Oh yeah I didn't even think of that, but probably. Although I think it'd be less outright trauma and more... she's just kinda resistant to it? Partially because of her backstory and partially because she's half-feral and doesn't see the point of getting her hair all pretty when she's just gonna go out hiking and camping and whatnot. So long as she keeps it clean, it's fine.
(Technically in the Rebound AU she's not out in the woods as much because of her job, but she's still very active and constantly on her feet wrangling pokémon so looking pretty is a secondary priority.)
Gris definitely inspires her to try a little bit harder with the grooming, although I imagine it mostly takes the form of teaching her makeup. Help her nail down that perfect eyeliner and eyeshadow combo for her goth look. She's not as focused on her hair care.
(But honestly Gris is more than happy to do the hair care for her because they like bathing/showering together. It's so fun to see Akari melting against them as they massage shampoo into her scalp, and brushing her hair out afterwards is very soothing.)
Thinking about how the polycule has so so much hair that wash day must be a nightmare…
Volo taking so much time and effort to ensure his hair is properly representing his heritage
Gris… depends on the au, can clean it with godly power but in rebound au my goodness they’re going through so much shampoo and conditioner
Akari im not totally convinced remembers how to care for her hair in most aus, even if she does, she forgets to clean it constantly… not that the other two are complaining much, she always melts into their hold and gentle ministrations after the wrestling match to get her into a bath
Lmao so I did actually make a post about Gris's hair woes specifically at one point, but yeah Volo and Akari also got plenty of long hair to worry about! Volo I think would try to take good care of his (or at least Gris would have impressed upon him the importance of proper hair washing), but Akari...
...Well. Let's just say that when I saw this ask the first thing that popped into my head was this meme:
(Also I love the idea of Akari getting wrangled into the bath and melting into her partners as they wash her hair, that's so cute)
Sometimes I look at Volo in his Ginkgo Guild uniform and then at Cogita in her dress and hat and. Just.
Maybe its influenced by your main AU but Volo being shamed out of presenting his culture by his way of dress. The Arceus inspired look is very much ceremonial like you said in your fic, but that brings into question of what the Celestica people's cultural dress would have been outside of said ceremonial outfit, from color to the symbol to their festival costumes to the key acessories tribe leaders and their heirs would wear.
Like. Volo's people existed. Its not exactly clear when the Celestica people vanished from Hisui's memory, but they did exist, enough for Volo to yearn for a people he could truly belong to. But where I am going with this is just. I wonder if joining the Ginkgo Guild was another of his attempts to find the lost pieces of a culture and people he'll never truly know personally. That he joins specifically on the off chance someone finds Celestica artifacts and pawns them onto the Guild. That most of his earnings goes to paying off the amount the Guild paid for the artifcat so that he can have it for himself.
That Volo stashes those items with Giratina. Because as much as Cogita is his relative its so clear to him she isn't as attached to heritage the way he is. She wouldn't care for these artifacts in a proper way. Wouldn't bother preserving ceremonial dances or texts or arts for the sake of protecting their culture.
That Volo's most comfortable in his own skin by Giratina's side, wearing the carefully recreated clan robes, wearing the salvaged and polished till brand new again accessories, dancing to a song that only exists in his memory in worship of the only god that looked at his effort and work like it mattered.
YES to the concept of Volo being able to be himself/express his culture around Giratina, honestly that's a big part of why he becomes so attached to them imo. Because Giratina was there. Giratina a living part of his people's history. Giratina was in those temples and still remembers the songs and prayers and rituals, and after so long of being denied Volo finally has someone to look at his efforts and tell him whether or not he's gotten them right.
(I do imagine that Giratina does not like Volo wearing the Arceus fit around them tho. But that's purely for Arceus-related reasons. And if Volo really wants to dress up in his people's culture Giratina can always help him recreate some ceremonial garb dedicated to their worship instead!)

Dunno if this has been mentioned before but I just found out that of the creation trio + Arceus, only Giratina likes headpats in pokemon amie…
Akari and Volo’s fault I’m sure
AWWWW oh I did not know that but I love it. I also headcanon that's Volo and Akari's fault (altho they didn't need to do much, since Giratina is already touch-starved as fuck...)
Gris trying to figure out exactly how little ice cream will please their princess and eating as slowly as possible while big ol ghostly mimikyu eyes watch on with delight is an adorable mental image
The things Gris does for their little ones... (they're going to be washing the taste out with a lot of green tea later)
