This needs to be addressed. Heavily.

Hello. I made a post about how Marvel wrongly casted a light skinned indigenous Mexican for the role of a Afro Latina/Puerto Rican black/dark brown skinned superhero. There’s a deep rooted problem when it comes to other POC telling how others should feel when it comes to racism and prejudice that affects a particular race/ethnicity. Here’s an example out of many; a person who I assume is indigenous. PLEASE look at their constant attacks.

This is a very deep rooted problem because we as a community have an issue when it comes to racism and prejudice with each other. Despite giving constant proof, black Afro Latinos get discarded and told off because we demand to receive proper representation.

When a certain group of POC tells you about an issue that bothers or annoy them YOU LISTEN. You hear their reasons. Support. I and many others have been GASLIGHTED and have our identities questioned by other POC because of their desperation to be represented in which they disregard us and in turn insult those who’s spaces have been taken.

This is a disgusting behavior. The last thing we need is to be pit against each other. America isn’t the only one wrongly represented. We have Kate Bishop, the Maximoff family, Clint Barton and many others. The reason we have to make noise and call Marvel/Disney out is simply because it gives a harmful stereotype by being wrongly or not properly represented.

In the case of America Chavez, NOBODY is saying she isn’t Latina enough, brown enough or indigenous enough. HOWEVER, how can one look at the actress and the character and say that this is “proper representation”? How can you call this a “you” problem? How can one not realize that this casting is disrespecting those who built Miss America’s story and the authors and artists who worked hard to bring her story alive?

If you, as a POC, are bothered when black or dark skinned individuals DEMAND proper representation, then you need to take a deep look at yourself and realize that you are displaying colorist behavior and correct that.

We should not have to accept and conform to their “best thing” they could offer!
