I Subjectmatter, who existed for three decades and over ten years of being a theatre performer, finds the Remix Lab as a platform and a turf to push yourself out of your comfort zones. It develops us not only as performers but also understand the business side of the industry - which is my highlight - but most importantly the Remix programme equips artist to learn other styles and promotes creativity and mind opening seeing other peoples works. Now thats "Ayoba". Above all even though it's an educational process it's not too preachy or like a classroom. It's just a free place to explore.

"I think it's an interesting story of how I conquered my fear on the stilts. I think I'll put it into my work and use it a lot."

Preparation for the final parade...
"Thank you for taking your time to come and work with us. It's been an amazing eleven days."
Masi (Remix Lab Participant)
I am really enjoying the Remix Laboratory programme thus far. I feel that I have learned a lot in this past week. I am so greatful for this opportunity, it has really broadened my mind regarding the performing arts industry. This programme has given me the opportunity to do and experience things that I never thought were possible. I know I will leave this programme as a better performer and with a lot of new skills.
Some people might find the whole circus experience very strange or tiring, but I am actually really enjoying myself, I mean I actually walked on stilts!!!...It was soooooo awesome! All the facilitators are so friendly and I get along with all of them, though I do wish they had experienced the festival with us a little bit more. This programme has also allowed me to make a lot of new friends that I intend to keep in touch with.
I do have to admit that it has been a tiring process, but I do believe in making every experience educational.
So thank you so much, I have had a blast and wouldn’t mind coming back next year!
Cady Newman (Applauz) (Remix Lab Participant)
"Together we stand, divided we fall, we have been through many things and now it's time for us to have one love and one spirit - good luck everyone!"

Cold chills, switching the heater on at nights and trying desperately, in vain not to be lured into buying a jacket because of the prickling chill in the air here in Grahamstown.
I was here with winter school back in February. The town then oozed with imagery of an old wild west western featuring Clint Eastwood as the lead.
Four months later……
It is as if someone’s got a match and with a single strike ignited this town with erupting flames of passion, vigour, art and nature. Suddenly grahams town has become a melting pot of culture.
This place is Buzzing!
Hundreds of shows on every day. Some absolutely gems! Others grenades. Glorious food stalls at the green and some fabulous street art on show. It’s just sheer bliss being back in South Africa at Grahamstown festival. Although I did forget how hilly Grahamstown is. I’ve never walked so much in my life. I can now definitely feel my gluteus maximums.
Apart from that I’m having such a wonderful time getting to know the skilful South African artists. Each and every one of them is just brilliant and so talented.
I have been blessed to have this wonderful opportunity to witness Grahamstown festival and to take part in circus workshops. I know now that I can definitely not do stilts, but I am a great base in acro balance.
Thanks guys for giving me this wonderful opportunity.
