alan nodded his head from side-to-side. he liked the word ‘bribe,’ he liked the words ‘open bar,’ but nothing she said really screamed what she’d owe him. “ depends. when it’s all over and done, what’ll you have for me ? call me julia roberts ‘cause i don’t work for free. ”

oh, if alan had even a shred of respect for... anyone other than himself ( and even saying he respected himself was a bit of a reach ), he would have seen arlo and kept walking. or, at the very least, not approach the guy out of free-will. not approach the guy just to approach the guy. -- but, you see, alan simply did not have a shred of respect for anyone other than himself. and where was the fun in leaving this guy alone ? “ so what are we looking for today, huh ? ” he began, smile already twisting itself. “ are we trying to find some flowers to score the next gal with ? learn some poetry by heart to, y’know, score the next gal with ? i mean, that whole ‘romantic’ bull ? it suits you, kid. you look like the type to fawn and... i don’t know, write calligraphy ? if it works, it works. ”

“  sooo  …  i  was  speaking  to  my  cousin  in  nyc—  he  was  telling  me  there’s  a  local  music  magazine  there  that’s  running  a  battle  of  the  bands.  they’re  just  in  the  auditions  stages  at  the  moment.  how  much  convincing  would  it  take  to  get  you  to  agree  to  us  all  going  down  there  and  kicking  it  in  an  airbnb  for  the  duration  ??  i  know  we’d  have  to  like,  drop  everything  and  disappear  for  a  bit  but  it’s  not  like  any  of  us  has  much  going  on  anyway.  i’m  sure  i  can  convince  tony  to  let  me  take  a  little  sabbatical.  ”

this  was  the  problem  with  arlo—  he  was  always  coming  up  with  these  bright  ideas,  but  they  were  never  very  realistic.  if  it  even  slightly  involved  the  possibility  of  an  opportunity  to  leave  stars  hollow  behind  and  start  a  new  life,  he  was  hooked  on  it,  no  matter  how  idealistic.  “  don’t  look  at  me  like  that.  go  on,  say  it—  ‘ oh,  arlo,  life  doesn’t  work  like  that.  you  can’t  just  skip  town  and  pursue  all  these  unrealistic  pipe  dreams. ‘ but  fair  warning,  if  you  do  say  that,  i’m  gonna  compare  you  to  my  mom.  that’s  exactly  what  she  would  say.  ”

truth be told ? there was nothing juno would have loved to do more than pick everything up and go. just go. it didn’t matter where, it didn’t matter when. she was not made for being stagnant, for settling. but her responsibilities transcended her job. ( even if they didn’t need to, just how right did it feel to leave ? ) “ well, i wasn’t going to use that specific phrasing. ” it was true: life didn’t work like that, it was nothing but a pipe dream, but... “ i mean, unless there’s money in it, we can’t all just pick up and leave, sabbatical or not. ” and passion led to excellent teaching. would she be allowed a brief sabbatical ? she was sure of it. but the sense of responsibility that hung in the balance... on one hand, perhaps it would be better to get away some time. he wouldn’t know who was missing, after all. but on the other ? “ is there ? money in it ? ” damn, i’m making her sound like alan ! oh, but this is in regards to payments, not greed.

the bubblegum to her marceline ! the last thing i want to do is force ship. do you know how awful it is to get stuck in a ship when your characters wind up having no chemistry ? it’s terrible ! but, in any case, this is related to ‘friends/best friends’... only there’s more nuance to it. there’s a more complicated history and, to make it worse/better, more attraction. maybe there’s a fwb aspect ? whether this would culminate in something romantic-ish is totally dependent on how we think the chemistry is going, but wouldn’t that be sexy of us ? wouldn’t that be sexy of this connection ? old friends ! juno didn’t grow up in stars hollow, but she did grow up a few towns over. this could work well if summers were ever spent in one town or another, if weekends ever overlapped, etc. then... omg, she’s suddenly moved to stars hollow ( by ‘suddenly’ i mean, like... six years ago ) !? reunited and it feels so good !

roommate(s) ! trying to pay for shelter, food, transportation, etc ? all the while also paying for a nice retirement home ? she isn’t exactly the spitting image of wealth ! even if she’s still able to run off of inheritance, that only lasts for so long... and money as a music teacher ? you only get paid so much... she’s gonna need someone to split those utilities with ! students ! listen. the bass is a sexy instrument. so are various others. it’s as simple as that.

bandmates ! this is a joint connection with jude warren and arlo floyd ! as of right now, i believe the instruments that have been scooped up are rhythm guitar/vocals, lead guitar, and bass. but more information about it is up on the main page ( aka, i don’t want to speak too much when i wasn’t the one who came up with this idea fhlkdsj ). ex(es) ! juno has a very love/hate relationship with the concept of love and romance. she adores the feeling and the concept, the idea of growing old with someone who warms your heart fills her with joy... but there are so many obstacles. and, in the end, at the very best ? it ends in death. #edgy. so i can see this having gone a number of ways ! be they on good terms, bad terms, or neutral terms -- as mr. peanutbutter once said, let’s find out ! his twin brother / the ford to his stan ! obviously this would be the case of picking up a new characters afhldks but literally think of stanley pines vs. stanford pines. as explained in the intro, alan and alex ( ‘al’ and ‘lex’ ) grew up relying on each other, close as could be ! in their youth, their differing, almost opposite, personalities clicked together perfectly. but, the older they got, the more the opposite became true. y/m ( alex ) became more obsessive, more withdrawn ; alan became more deceitful, more aggressive. it culminated in a terrible falling out. alan moved to stars hollow four years ago. whether y/m moved earlier or later is up to you ! ( 0/1 ) ( must be amab )

high and dry ! romance is not something alan understands. he’s heard of the concept, but he’s never felt it. thus, he and y/m met somewhere ( be it a chance encounter, through a dating app, etc. ) and hit it off. perhaps it was a drunk decision, perhaps it wasn’t, but the two decided to leave their meeting place and boink. now, even if there was no romance ? the sheer fact that alan got along with them and had good sex with them was enough to prompt him to leave in the morning, no goodbyes... and leave them with a hotline. conversely, if y/m woke up before alan, they could’ve done the exact same thing. ( preferably 24+ )

i can’t believe it’s not butter ! by trade and by hobby, alan is a conman. from slight scams to counterfeit bills to identity fraud, the man’s done it all ! and this includes having scammed/conned your character. although the status of the town -- aka, how small it is -- has made him more wary of anything big and/or traceable, they managed to figure it out.  conversely, they did not manage to figure it out and he is still scamming them.

a naive customer ! this goes hand-in-hand with the above. basically, y/m comes into kim’s antiques a lot ! while most people usually see through his little lies about the products, but still buy them because what harm had it really done ? y/m genuinely believes every single thing he says. ( 0/2 )

a dog sitter ! he’s honestly half convinced that the man who sold him rexy saw his scam and scammed him right back -- some counterfeit money for a possum -- but he loves that odd animal. he loves that odd animal to the point that, if he can’t be around for just a day, he will get him some companionship. but he doesn’t trust just anyone with rexy... can you believe he trusts y/m enough ? ( 0/1 )

friends ! the man’s a sleazeball, but he’s gotta have some friends. he is, after all, a sleazeball with a heart of gold ! and once you’re friends with him ? he’s actually a great guy ! a lot of ribbing, sure, but it all comes from a good place !
