Hello! This is an interesting blog! Would you be interested in sharing your developing research on Worm? It is an online platform engaging artists and non-artists (activists/academics/growers) who work within ecological topics. If this takes your fancy, we can switch to Gmail (address on Worm's blog and facebook) Best, Angela (enjoying the sew patch by the way!)
Ah sorry just received this, yes I would love to! I'll message you asap, thanks oh glad you like the patch Angela!
The Solheimajokull Glacier.
This was a shocking experience. i had heard previously about how much this glacier has melted but seeing it first hand was a completely different experience. To be able to understand the scale of retreat was incredible. Even from these images there is no way of getting my understanding across. James Balog's Chasing Ice explains what is happening.

This was a Recycled Art House, although it was recycled it wasnt very environmentally friendly. It was similar to an open landfill with all the rust turning the now around it orange and speeding its melting.

DAY 4: 25/08/14
Today i took an 8 hour nature walk to Memerubu. i saw quite a few waterfalls and Lichen. It was sad to think about how all of this landscape used to be ice and that it had all melted. i did see a few distant glaciers but they were tiny unhealthy ones, even for August. i didn't have time to stop as i wanted to get back by 20:30. The scenery really reminded me of the work of Caspar David Friedrich which i love.
It gets really cold at night, i end up waking up a lot to check i've not frozen up. i guess that is the price i pay for the view (i get super icy temperatures due to the pro-glacial lake i am camped on top of) and its definitely worth it.
DAY 3: 24/08/14
Today when i woke up i thought i would take a short stroll around the area yet ended up going of the most beautiful 10 hour hike up Besseggen. Every time i thought i was nearly there i would see another peak to climb! i love the landscape and the colours here, much better than i had imagined. Other than the man working at the tourist information office i have finally seen people! i never thought i would be saying that with excitement but it is very unusual having so much freedom yet feeling so isolated. So far everyone has spoken almost perfect English and have been really friendly.
Like i said yesterday, the weather frequently changes from the two extremes which today i experienced a lot. Particularly as i got to the top of Bessegen it went from absolutely boiling to freezing within seconds. as i go to the top i was standing in a grey cloud which started to throw snow on me which i was not ready for, which completely blocked my view of what i had been working for all day! Seeing as my hands were about to drop off, i had to head back down pretty quickly. The journey down felt a lot quicker and the sky was clearer meaning the views were all the more amazing.
The problem i found with wild camping was having to move the tent so frequently as the rules were that you could camp pretty much anywhere but had to move spot every day. packing away the tent and high possibility of rain didn't seem to work so well but i managed to get used to it and being constantly wet just became the norm. My new spot however was even more amazing than the previous spot and was well worth moving in the rain. i was located bang in the middle of a previously glaciated valley with the beautiful lake in the bottom.
