Chicago Girl In A Los Angeles World

So I have been using craigslist to find a place but there are quite a lot of scams. The one I've seen most frequently is a place cheap to rent and the person responsible for the unit is out of town somewhere and doesn't have anyone to show you the place but if you send them x amount of dollars they will mail you the key. They're usually eager to get you started with the application process but not so much when it comes to viewing the interior. 

All my life I've been an artist blah, blah, blah. I went to school for animation blah, blah, blah. Trials and tribulations blah, blah, blah. I got the hook up and now I'm working as a production assistant for Universal Animation.

That being said I had to pick up and move from Chicago to Los Angeles. There is a huge, huge difference between these two cities. I'm in the process of adapting to it being warm everyday with no rain but freaking cold at night and no humidity! I actually like the humidity, but I was an odd duck in Chicago anyway. the public transportation here exists but sort of in a red-headed stepchild sort of way. The entire parking, owning, a car etc is clearly a racket but that's a whole different post that I will talk about later.

Now since I had a Job lined up before I moved I was already one step ahead. I had a living situation planned out but it ended up being a no-go. So now I am in the process of finding a place to live out here and it's a fucking nightmare. You have to have presidential qualifications out here in LA which are unheard of in Chicago. And since you don't really need a car in Chicago you can live farther away from your job and commute to work with no real worries.
