Actually, no, I haven’t been abducted. Where the heck have I been? Why no more Woe, damnit?

Well, my Skyrim installation is gone. Wait, what? Don’t panic!

All my mods are backed up. As I’ve previously whined about unnecessarily, I’ve been quite busy with work. That has included moving my main rig to Linux now for the nth and probably final time. But my schedule is about to become a lot more flexible in about the next month. So I’ll be slapping Skyrim on an extra SSD and getting back to screenshotting there soon as time begins to free up.

What should you expect? Better Lokasenna textures! Something that actually matches Woe’s skin tone so they actually look like sisters. Also, maybe some more complex scenes involving Sexlab and such. Guest characters! More story! All kinds of possibilities. And definitely more agonizing over resolutions because I’m too much of a pixel nazi. Though at 1080p I did pump out way more screens.

So more Woe coming for sure. Be patient, follow my alt blog for cool and sexy stuff, and I’ll see ya’ll soon!

On Linux: You can totally use it for gaming now! I’ve seen excellent function in Overwatch, WoW, CS:GO, and more. Steam Proton is the bee’s knees, Lutris can get you close with non-Steam games. Don’t expect anything with anti-cheat to work, though.

And LE works! (So does SE from reports.) Why not mod it here on Linux then? Well, SKSE and ENB are the hard parts here. They won’t run. Until some other dedicated folks figure it out, I’ll need a Windows installation to mod Skyrim and take screens.

Another test, this time for resolution.

I really like the 2:3 aspect ratio. It gives you a ton of freedom in terms of shot composition. But I was previously taking shots at a ridiculous 4K resolution. Hotsampling meant that because everything was so small, I was jumping back and forth from SRWE to Skyrim constantly, changing ENB settings, changing console settings, and modifying poses. What a hassle. Making sets took hours, and it made me want to take screenshots less.

I’m going to try out simple 2K resolution shots, still at 2:3. There’s a lot less hot potato with SRWE, as I can still read most text with the game crammed into a 1080p height. I pumped out these two shots in a matter of five minutes, including some minor post editing.

This has the added benefit of me not having to have one set of base images which I can upload to Flickr, and having to downsize for everywhere else due to filesize limits.

There’s a lot of stuff I like, and I want to show people I love it and pass it on to others. So I made a side blog for that stuff. Check it out! Follow it maybe if your taste matches mine.

Expanded from this post, since it happened to me again recently, and another anon on /tesg/.

Occasionally, running Skyrim Special Edition will corrupt Skyrim Limited Edition (aka 32-bit, or Oldrim), nuking the control map. In LE, it will appear that your keyboard simply does not work. But the mouse works. And Alt+Tab works. And ENB is taking keyboard input fine. But you can’t navigate menus or move your character or anything that isn’t mouse-driven.

I’ve come across two methods for solving this:

1) Steam Cache Repair

I’m not 100% on this, so people will need to try it and verify; however, last time this scenario occurred, I tried this and it seemed like the critical factor that fixed it.

First, delete Skyrim/Data/Interface/Controls/PC. Just the PC folder should be fine. It’s empty, but hey, computers right?

Then, verify your LE installation. In Steam, right-click The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim -> Properties -> Local Files -> Verify Integrity of Game Files. It should analyze and say it’s going to repair 1 file. Confirm and let it happen.

Run your game. As far as I can tell, that should be it.

2) Insert a custom control map

This one is hit-or-miss. Worked for me once, failed the next time.

Download this backup control map. Rename it ControlMap_custom.txt, and put it in the top level of your Skyrim folder (next to TESV.exe, enbhost.exe, and skse_loader.exe).

Start your game. Hopefully it sees the new control map and likes it.

I’m very aware that the lewd princesses set with her sister was overexposed; I probably could’ve made do with the lighting in the room if I’d figured out what I know now sooner.
