At first, Mayumi reached up as if to brush his hair back, but she stopped short, forcing her hand down before touching him. It was rude, she had to remember… and so she merely smiled through his attempt to tell her off.

"Do not… worry about apologizing. I would have stayed as long as they would let me… I would hate for you to wake alone."

She got up again, dusting off her knees and tugging her chair over to his bedside, minding her package this time. She would wait, just a bit to give it to him.

"I’m… really just… very happy that you are awake, and that you remember me… are you feeling better? Do you want me to call the nurses…?"

>>He watched her hand move and retract with a slightly curious gaze, but he didn't comment about it. He awkwardly shifted himself, wanting to prop himself up more even if he couldn't sit himself up properly. "That's very kind of you. I appreciate it, Hanezuka-kun." His smile grew a little as he listened to her speak more, seeming sort of.. Content for the moment. "My memory hasn't been too foggy in terms of recent events for the moment, even with the sudden faint." He responded in a sort of proud tone, clearly happy that his memory has been well in that sense. "I don't think I need assistance, no. At least for the moment. Admittedly, it can be stressful when the nurses hover over me. I can't say I particularly enjoy it, but I'd never say such to them." He paused for a moment, as if in thought. His gaze wandered the room a little before returning to Mayumi. "You know, Hanezuka-kun.. I am fairly sure that since... Oowada-kun, you are the second person I am convinced I can consider a 'friend'." He smiled after he spoke-- the prospect of having a friend admittedly enough to make him giddy. "Can I refer to you as such? A-after all, a friend would worry over me like you do, right?" He added the last part hastily.

Mayumi waited hour after hour, carefully watching his chest rise and fall with his breaths. Occasionally, she cried… once, she fell asleep for a while, head resting on her own shoulder.

When he finally stirred she sat up, eyes wide and shining with unshed tears as she hoped, god hoping against all hopes that this was finally it…

"Ishimaru-kun!"

For a moment her voice was almost a squeak, and then she stood, almost kicking her own gift in her haste to get to his bedside and kneeling to meet his eyes.

"Y-you’re awake…! Aaah… n-no, not at all…!"

>>After a few minutes of struggle, he seemed to give up on sitting up, laying back against his pillow with a shaky sigh. Despite her words, he couldn't help but feel guilty. He didn't like the idea of worrying other's so much- and having someone devoted enough to wait on him to awake...! He really shouldn't be the subject of such devotion and attention, really. "I'm very sorry, Hanezuka-kun.. You should not have waited on me if it has been more than an hour or so!" He lightly scolded, though he didn't seem to say it with a heartfelt tone. Instead, he softly smiled after a moment, shaking his head a little. "I am happy to see you, however." He admitted. "It's nice to see a friend.. After such an intense turn of events.."

Mayumi was silent when she arrived, trembling slightly and pale. Never the less, she decided to sit by him for a bit, careful to be quiet. She wasn’t really sure what to do, or what she could possibly hope for.

By her feet sat the box she had brought, a very small angel food cake with strawberries she’d brought, as well as a journal for writing things down. She wasn’t sure he’d be happy to receive them, but…

Hopefully he’d at least wake up enough to tell her if he hated them..

>>He certainly took a while to wake up. Agonizingly long hours, to be specific. His heart rate and breathing would fluctuate at seemingly random, making him seem as if he might wake or simply add to the worry of something being wrong. Finally, he did wake up, however. His eyelashes fluttered a little, blearily glancing around from his laid back position in almost confusion. His breathing slightly quickening, he struggled to try and sit up, eyebrows furrowing.

"A-ah.. Ha.. Hanezuka-kun?" He asked- his voice shushed from the breathing mask still remaining on his face. He almost instantly looked almost guilty, still trying to force himself up despite his body's clear inability to. "I'm so sorry...! Were you waiting.. On me very long..?"

>>Kiyotaka admittedly had felt a slight excitement for his birthday that had been so quickly approaching, yet at the same taking a while. Part of him honestly had hoped for perhaps something from his family, even just a few words scrabbled onto a piece of paper.

Yet only the day before his birthday, he'd gone into a sleep after showing signs of illness- nausea, and he seemingly was unable to function properly before falling away into a faint.

Due to previous accidental injured he'd given himself his heart rate is monitored as well as his breathing-- a mask put over his mouth to aid him in remaining relaxed and not tensing as he possibly might.

almost an entire twenty-four hours since his faint, he remains unconscious with slightly worrisome breathing.

A single card sat in its envelope on the side table- otherwise the room was clear as it always was.
