PERSEPHONE V.

    “    this place has suuuuch good food !    “  persephone’s voice oozes with confidence, that of a repeat patron or of a food reviewer. she is both of these things. her words fall into the air with enough ambiguity that she could be talking to just anybody. it helps me to think that way, it makes me less nervous. but then i look at them and wow, what a face. but then, oh, what an aura. heavy.   

     I AM A FIRM believer that random strangers can often offer the wisest words. Going up where? The social pyramid is no joke— how else did socialites such as the Kardashians make their empire? I’ve been listening to a lot of TED talks recently, a result of the post-graduation slump that I’ve nestled myself in. They keep bringing up perspective, and how it’s supposed to change your life. I don’t get it. How can I change my life if I’ve been given everything I could ever want? Shouldn’t I be happy?

           “Sounds exciting. Lemme know what you see when you get to the top!“

    hmm !! something seems too familiar about this person. persephone averts her stare as she tries to think. nothing is worse than having strangers, and even people you know staring at you. i hate that. i hate that. her brain still rattles around, tries to place the beauty in front of them ? singer. no, that isn’t it....actor ? oh, that isn’t it, either.

      “    aw, you’re sweet. maybe i’ll see you at the top, too.    “

   her stomach knots. i want to ask them where i’ve seen them, but what if they hate me ? what if they think i’m some kind of freak !! her weight shifts from one foot to the other. she clears her throat.

    she’s lounging around out in the open again with her wings ! such beautiful, jaunty things they are. fitzgerald himself must be turning over in his grave, wishing he could describe such things. persephone doesn’t realize shilah until it’s too late, really. but ! hm...he doesn’t seem all that normal himself.
