So I’m going to take this tag as an opportunity to talk about this because I’ve seen a lot of discourse (not here, but elsewhere) about this scene, and I just want to make it clear to the masses that I don’t think Toriel’s a bad mom for this. She’s just imperfect. My girl was having some fun, and she got a little carried away. But at the same time, I’ve been in Kris & Susie’s shoes, and it can be so jarring/devastating when your perception of someone is so radically shifted (in Susie’s case— imo it aligns with the ‘people you idolize are still people’ thing) and absolutely infuriating when you’ve had to deal with this stuff all the time (Kris’s case). My aim was to show that Susie’s perception of Toriel as this warm, perfectly motherly and safe person has been shattered; I felt Susie’s reaction implied she had an unpleasant history with inebriated adults, but that’s 100% me reading into it. 🤷‍♀️
