This is what I’m going to tell my kids when they as “What did you do when you were my age?”

1 year old: Was adored

2 years old: Quit being the only child

3-4 y.o.: I have little to no memories of these ages.

5-14: Played with my siblings, started school, went through and grew out of rebellious stage

15: Went to Russia

16: Lost Father

17: Learned to drive

18: Worried about what would happen when Social Security ran out and I would have to support myself

19-21: Worked at Orthodontics office

22-23: College

24: Worked at Orthodontics office

25-27: Lived in Taiwan

28: Wondered when I’d meet your father

I forgot I was 27 until I wrote this. I’d been going around all week thinking I was 26 and would turn 27 this year. Then I was writing this and I was like “Wait... the math is wrong.” and I used a calculator to subtract my birth year from the current year and freaked myself out when I realized that essentially, I basically only have 2 years left before I’m 30.

Dear Kipper,

This about sums up my life right now. I’m juggling so many projects that once I’m like “Ah! Finally completed that one and can mark it off the checklist!” it turns out that either I forgot a detail or something about it needs to be changed and it all comes crashing back into the mix again.

I’m swamped. Stressed. Overwhelmed. Hurting. Homesick. Anxious. Tense. Exhausted. Worn out. Worried. Scared. Unhappy. Distracted. Busy. Selfish. And a whole multitude of other things.

The lunch bell just rang and I promised my fourth graders I’d eat with them today. 

Wish I could have some alone time,

Astilbe: *text picture of newly dyed hair*

Kipper: New hair color?

Astilbe: What are you talking about? My hair has always been that color.

Kipper: It looks different. Maybe you're back lit.

Astilbe: It is a new color.

Kipper: Hahaha! I knew your hair wasn't that red.

Astilbe: What do you think?

Kipper: Oh I am good, yeah, yeah!

Kipper: I like it. It's fun.

Astilbe: It's drastically different. Even if you weren't my best friend. You'd have to be blind not to notice.

Kipper: Wow. Thanks.

Kipper: lol. Probably looks more drastic in person.

Astilbe: Eh, maybe a little. It looks like carrots. I can now sympathize with Anne of Green Gables

Astlibe: The box said copper brown. Does this look copper brown to you?

Kipper: Yeah, actually.

Astilbe: No madam, it does not.

Kipper: Think of a penny.

Kipper: You asked my opinion! You can't tell me my opinion isn't correct. Because it is an opinion! If I say it looks copper brown, then by George, it does, in my opinion.

Astilbe: Swearing by pennies now? Tsk tsk

Kipper: George is a dollar

Astilbe: Oh yeah... or a quarter.

Kipper: I'm going with dollar.

Astilbe: And I just taught this last week! Tsk tsk.

Kipper: *sends dollar picture text*

Kipper: *sends Yen picture text*

Kipper: Look! Yen! Ah, ok then. I have to go to work, and you have to go look up the definition of opinion. So have a nice day, Carrots.

Astilbe: *sends Taiwan dollar picture text*

It's been ages since I've heard from you. Do come out of your little world every once in awhile and send me a word or two of what's up.

Also, I've lately had the very strong urge to visit an aquarium.

I'm going to go paint my nails now.
