Weâve got a bad, bad habit of saying everythingâs fine and bottling it up. (ĺšłć°ă ăŁăŚăăćć ˘ăăŚăăŽăŻ ăăŁă¨ĺăăĄăŽćŞăăăłă§)

HE WOULDNT FEEL GOOD AT ALL LEMME TELL YOU
prepare yourself then poor Alba
Ah, such a shame to hear that this child had been plagued by malicious spirits. There were so many good ones out there, however they were hiding most of the time. Needless to say, he wasnât surprised. The world was changing, turning more and more into a place that was unfriendly towards those of supernatural sources and roots. It was almost⌠as if the reign of humans had just begun. A horrible thing to think about, wasnât it? But oh well, he didnât know this child any further â and he didnât have an interesting smell to him either.
Only that of a normal human that was slowly working himself to the brink of exhaustion. Perhaps this was the ignorance of a true youkai that he couldnât quite bring himself to care, althoughâŚ
Alba paused in his steps and glanced over his shoulder as he listened to the words of warning, before he chuckled lightly. âNo good! I want to see market here. I bet itâs really big and there will be so many great things to see!â Naivety and innocence swayed within the Kitsuneâs excited voice, however it didnât take long for him to fall silent and straighten his back. His tails even perked up and tensed. âWhat did you just sayâŚ?â
âMe? Becoming an Emperorâs play thing?â There it was. This tiny, flickering spark of hatred that would always exist in the core of his heart. Humans were selfish, egocentric and didnât care for the rules of nature, let alone for the peace of spirits. But it only lasted for a short moment before Alba took a deep breath and laughed it all off; his tails resuming their relaxed position while he turned on geta-clad feet and shoved his hands into the sleeves of his kariginu. Never again would he let such a thing happen to him.âIf youâre so worried, why donât you accopany me? I could need a guide anyway, child!â
Upon the cheerfully innocent and naive declaration, the hair on the back of his neck could only stand on end. No-- For a youkai such as this to enter the city, someone was bound to see and word would get back to his master in no time at all. This would be bad on his part since he was the one supposed to making sure such a thing didn't happen, and the last thing Kurogane wanted was to be a disappointment to his Emperor! This left him once again like a few moments ago, taking a few steps closer to the kitsune after lifting his sword from where it had been sticking into the soil.
"You will do no such thing, Kitsune!" The swordsman shot back, unhappiness evident in his tone. "It doesn't matter what you want! I can't allow you in there!" That would be a marked failure on his record, and his master only wished to have his tasked finished absolutely perfectly. If the captain of the army allowed a youkai of all things in the city, how would that reflect to the eyes of others?
Though soon enough, the boy paused at the sudden tension in the other. What-- Did he have some sort of bitterness towards royalty? All the more reason to not let him in! He had to protect his master!
"I will not be accompanying a youkai into the city! My master would catch word of such a thing!" Kurogane barked. "Stay out of the city, you're only going to cause problems if you go in!"

He could see it in the boyâs posture. An experienced fighter; skilled with the sword. It wasnât much of a surprise that he had killed one of his kin, although the news were sad, even if it had been a malicious one. Alba could relate why some of the fell prey to the hatred and disgust for humans. For a short period of time, he hadnât been any different, nor would he have let the child draw his toy in the first place. Good thing he had grown out of that stage.
"Iâm a servant of Inari, thatâs why. Iâm a zenko, child. Not a yako,â Alba pointed out rather dryly, although he intuitively stepped backwards to bring some distance between himself as well as the tip of the sword. âNot every fox spirit is evil. If I were malicious, youâd be dead by now.â
Such certainty came with nine tails, even if the majority was hidden with magic.
And with that, the Kitsune leaped into the air and skillfully landed on his feet behind the human. As if he would let a child threaten him⌠Bully him, yes. But threaten him with a sword? No. Not even in 1000 years. âHave a nice day, child.â
The retort he was given by the spirit caused there to be a moment of silence, followed by the lowering of his blade just a few inches. Spirits had always been a pesky thing as Kurogane saw it... He had dealt with them in the past, though they had only been negative considering how one had attacked him and the other... He didn't like thinking on it nor what it made him do upon having control of his body. (As far as he was concerned, it didn't happen. It was a dream. A lie.)
"The spirits I have dealt with personally have only done ill upon me, thus it should be expected I am wary of your presence." He retorted, lowering his sword to allow the edge of the blade to dig into the dirt a bit, using it as a resting place for his hands then-- Though not before turning in the direction of the spirit after it jumped over him.
... Child?
"Hn. Likewise, as long as you remain out of sight from any other humans in this area, Kitsune-san. It would be problematic if the Emperor wished to have yet another play thing." His life was difficult as it is, after all.

As rare as it was that Alba left the odd safety of the village, it still sometimes happened that he wished to see the bigger markets in the cities and large towns â they had so many great things that he wouldnât ever find at home! Yet, as he merely wished to pass through the outskirts of the city, he was found and spotted rather quickly. The Kitsune didnât miss the threatening tone in the strangerâs voice as he cautiously stepped out of the bushes. His two visible tails flickering from left to right.
Whoa, the guy was about to draw a sword!
"D- Donât do that! I mean no harm, really!"
Gaze seemed to focus and darken threateningly at the realization the thing that had caught his attention happened to be a Kitsune-- Of all things! The ears atop his head were familiar and similar to those belonging to another he had encountered in the past, one that was more or less trying to harm him. Of course, based on said experience, his sword was drawn and pointed towards the other as his hand gripped tighter at the handle of his sword.
"I'm a bit  s k e p t i c a l  ."He retorted unhappily.
"The last Kitsune I dealt with was rather violent when we came across each other. How are you any different, Kitsune-san?"
Hearing the sudden rustling from the bushes to his right to break the peaceful silence as he made his rounds on the outside of the city, the swordsman froze. Kurogane's stance tightened, a hand shifting to grasp the handle his sword and unsheathe it just a bit.
     "Who's there? Show yourself."
reihai started following you
"Oh, hey there!" She smiled, though she was a tad confused about the oriental clothing the other was wearing. Could he be a tourist, visiting Kalos?
"-- ?"
Cue a confused blink from the swordsman, offering a cant of his head at the greeting he received from the stranger speaking to him. What did she want with him, exactly? And such skimpy clothing... How disrespectful to her own body, huh. "Do you have something you wish to say to me?"

The seconds ticked by, Touya still waited for some sort of response as he stood in front of the sliding door leading to Kuroganeâs quarters. But the longer he waited, the more he could feel himself wavering. Was this really okay? Did he really want to see Kurogane again? No, of course he wanted to see him again! He still cared for the boy, he still wanted to be his friend and enjoy his presence again! No matter what had happened in the past, the knight wanted to believe in his friend. Certainly, he was scared. He was so terribly scared that his legs actually felt weak and gave hi the impression that he wouldnât be able to stand for a very long time before he might lose his balance.
And that wouldnât be good, would it?
Just what would Kurogane think if he saw hi so scared and out of his mind during their reunion? It was a frightening thought because his mind simply had to go back to that fateful day that had changed everything between them and left him whimpering under his breath. He didnât want to mess up, he really really didnât want to mess up again, when he had finally dared to approach this place again. His throat felt so dry, making it hard for him to think straight right now â but the knight forced himself to stay quiet and take a deep breath through his nose. Finally, Kuroganeâs voice resonated frm the inside, but⌠it sounded so emotionless and neutral⌠Was it really Kurogane? Touya shifted on the spot, putting his weight from one heel onto the next while he stared at the thin paper door and hesitated.
It was useless. He couldnât shake off this horrible fear, it was paralyzing him so badly; tears gathering in the corners of his eyes. The knight forced himself to lick his lips as trembling hands reached up to wipe his eyes.
No, he couldnât hesitate now. He was so close to fix things. Everything would be alright. And if Kurogane wanted to hurt him again, he would just let him and endure it, regardless of how badly it might hurt. Thatâs⌠what friends did, right? Friends put up with bad things for a good cause, didnât they? Biting down on his bottom lip till the sensitive skin threatened to break, the youth hissed under the uncomfortable feeling. At least it snapped him out of his frozen state, carefully pushing the door to the side and stepping over the threshold. It was truly weird to be in this room again; a cold shiver ran down his spine, but he stepped further into the swordsmanâs quarters, hazel eyes nervously glancing around.
But finally they settled on the person in question.
Touya lowered his gaze at once and spoke up in a submissive tone. âK- ⌠K- Kurogane, Iâ Iâm sorry.â
Kuroganeâs usual tone had always been neutral, blunt, and to the point. Admittedly, before when he had been more lively, his subordinates were perplexed considering they werenât used to witnessing such a thing-- but over the months as the boy reverted back to the state he was in now, they would murmur to each other that âtheir captain had returnedâ. He couldnât bring himself to care, however the look his sister gave him at the back of the crowd where she hid in the shadows left a numb pang in his chest. They hadnât spoken in a while, though the boy had a lot of work to do and had little time to make idle conversation with his friends or his sister. He had told his closest companions upon being given the title of the Emperorâs protector that their time together would be limited considering his duty to keep the man happy was important-- and such a thing still stood clearly. There was nothing the boy wouldnât do for the man, this had been proven through the years as he served N Harmonia. He had killed, he had threatened, he had done so many things he wouldnât of done if it hadnât been under his Masterâs orders. To follow his Masterâs words to the T and never disobey was the way of the samurai; the way his father had lied by before his death in the war with Kantojo.
That was his resolve; that was why he remained so resilient and worked hard even now on this very day and seemed to have no qualms about doing even more as he lifted the stack of papers to head towards the door.
His footsteps were slow and careful in an attempt to not drop the papers he was carrying as he neared the door to give the individual what they had came for. That was all he had been expecting as he heard the door open and close behind them-- however, the physical appearance of the person that stood there wasnât that of a soldier; it was something much more different and made him freeze immediately as dull caramel met hazel. The voice and the way it spoke his name made his eyes widen like saucers, breath catching in his throat. Everything but his name fell on deaf ears, merely leaving him stunned in complete silence for a few moments before finally reacting. His body jumped backwards, arms lifting seemingly in an automatic response as the papers in his hands were tossed into the air which was accompanied by a sharp yelp.
âA-A-Ahh--!!â
He didnât dare to even glance down at the papers now scattered on his floor, stumbling backwards in a clumsy fashion in what was clearly him trying to create distance between them. His heart was racing so very fast now-- was it hard to breathe? Was he even breathing? He couldnât tell, but he felt complete and utter panic buzzing through his body which left him shaking in the knightâs presence. Why was he here? Why was he saying sorry? Why, why, why? His head was screaming at him, telling him terrible things when he was now once again in Touyaâs presence.
Youâre going to hurt him again. Donât touch him. You were a monster then and you are now. Youâre the one who should be saying sorry.
âYou-- I-- W-Why--â He couldnât talk. It was so hard to talk.
He was scared to.
