Sorry this day is late, it’s been a pretty busy week for me and I started to get hit with BAD art block and burnout.

Day 6: School AU

Imagine a world where humans are not the masters, but the pets. Precious, talented, yet utterly stripped of rights. Living toys for a powerful alien race.

Their main arena is Alien Stage, a galactic spectacle where they sing not for glory, but for the right to exist. The audience consists of aliens whose applause determines everything.

This is not a competition. It is high-stakes gladiatorial combat where the weapon is the voice, and the stake is life itself.

His husband had to swallow around the lump in his throat, before his trembling voice whispered, “That past versions of us did tag along on our journey here, after all. We were so young, in this picture… Do you think they’d be proud of how far we’ve come now, Red?”

What a silly question.

The answer was spelled right across them, in the tall mirror: a juxtaposition of their past and present, highlighting how the qualities that made their youth shine was now a burning star glowing from within each of their aged faces.

Or: when Blue was called to help Sycamore’s Pokémon Research Lab create better policies for Lumiose City’s newly-established Wild Zones, he and Red ended up finding a treasure they once thought was lost buried among their winter gear.

This is a loose sequel to “it’s always you” that can also be read as standalone fanfic.

Day 5: Heartache

By the time Red got there, Blue was already on the ground, curled in a ball, crying. He had stopped loud sobbing a while ago, just sniffles came from him. Red had heard that Blue’s Raticate had some health issue that made it a risk to allow her to battle. Even so, she wanted to take on Red’s team, not wanting to be seen as weak. Red couldn’t help but feel like it was his fault that she had died.

“It isn’t your fault…” Blue had whispered. Red believed him, but a part of him still felt guilt.
