It’s my dad’s 75th birthday today, and I’m honoring it in a special way. You see, in the past, my dad would go around, on his days off, treating and giving meds to our sick neighbors for free. He had a genuine care for the well-being of others, and nothing made him happier than helping others. So if he saw that a local school had over 100 positive cases of COVID-19 in just two weeks, he would donate his year supply of KN95/N95 masks to all the schools in the community. He would be spending his free time going around town passing out hundreds of KN95s/N95s to the local teachers, so that they’d have better protection during and after the Labor Day weekend. He’d know that not every teacher/parent can afford to keep buying these better but pricier masks. So he would also buy thousands more high-quality, size-adjustable masks for donation, so that more students and staff could have free access to better, proper-fitting masks. That’s just the type of person that my dad was. And my mom, who donated her stimulus checks to a local charity, is the same way. So all of this was exactly what I did this week on my both my parents’ birthdays. And amazingly, when my neighbors got word of this, they donated their own masks and funds to expand this project even further and longer. My father may have passed away over a decade ago, but his positive influence is still alive and well today. You see, dad? Even during a time when everyone seems so divided, you got a whole community to come together to help each other out. Thank you. Happy 75th birthday, dad, and happy birthday, mom. https://www.instagram.com/p/CTixim6j-rZ/?utm_medium=tumblr
