I know about the corruption, the questionable politics and the abusers/assaulters and yet.

I acknowledge it all, but it was briefly nice to see people realize that the USA is a hellscape but ultimately people have more in common than they think.

I'll keep watching until it ends likely but its hard to stomach watching shitty humans finding success in such a hugely visible way.

I take solace in the fact I haven't given money to fifa (even if I do wish I went to a game in my city but you know prices and work), and that I've used alternative means to watch non-USA/English speaking coverage.

I guess I still find it hard as someone who grew up and dreamed of sports and one day working in sports to not get caught up in it all.

It still sucks to see how mainstream male sport continues to demonstrate how much it doesn't give a shit about morality. Or about women. Or underrepresented people. How many things are behind paywalls, that capitalism comes before community.
