she may or may not be dreading the coming conversation because she’s fully aware somebody called them. even though she’d done her best to cover up the fact, it hadn’t helped one bit. she’d still burned a rather homemade hole in her jeans because she’d gotten hurt at school today. “ surprise?” she offers, lightly. a bad idea to lighten the mood now, but hey, a girl could try. 

he’s never been the best at hiding how he feels , and as marcos looks at his daughter , he’s sure the overwhelming concern is etched clear as day on his face. yes , he’s aware that since the invention of phones , parents have received calls home from school about their kids. but this isn’t the same. it’s different for them , as much as he wishes it weren’t. so , choosing to ignore dawn’s levity , he takes her hand in his , and in that soft , rough voice of his , he gives her the chance to explain. “ what happened , mi amor ? ”

                           “I do not want MY son to grow up the way any of us did. The way any of our kind had to. Hiding in the shadows, afraid to be who they are, because of some stigma that all mutants are dangerous. We can show them that we’re not the bad guys. That humans and mutants can co-exist peacefully,” she stated her hand resting on the table as she looked at the others around her. open
