I had a realisation with myself today, with my body actually. In the midst of "the class" led by my dear friend Zoë I awakened a part of myself that had become stiff, had become silent, and had become complacent to the numbness in a sector of my life that I had long forgotten about. I was reminded to check in, to close my eyes, to find stillness, to feel the way my body felt with the movement. When it was time to open up and let out a sound, I found myself unable, I found myself silent, as I had wanted to scream in so many aspects of my life, to shout out, "I am here", or just to scream out the pain, the anger, the sadness, the depths of my soul that I had silenced and in turn had allowed my heart to harden around. I opened up today, I let a small sound and it got bigger and bigger and the movement in my body expanded. I let my exhales take over, I let my heart expand, and I felt myself come together; the stagnant energy moved, the cells in my body tingled, and for the first time in what seemed like forever I gave gratitude to my body and it soaked it up, every inch of the love, the gratitude, and the beauty I poured into it, it drank as if the desert that once was my body had finally become an oasis. xx (at Malibu, California)
