If Char hadn't chosen the “massacre of the people” ending, I get the feeling Bright might have gone along with him.

Bright’s guiding principle is “I will not tolerate terrorism that threatens the lives of ordinary people.” That’s why he absolutely refuses to forgive the Zabi family for their terrorist uprising, opposes the Titans, won’t forgive Haman, cracks down on Zeon remnants, and insists that Char—who has resorted to terrorism—must be stopped. By publishing the Universal Century Charter, he tries to protect the two of them by connecting their past goodwill to the future.
