Pallas’s Cat (Octocolobus manul)

Also known as the Manul, Pallas’s cat is a small species of wild cat that is native to the grasslands and steppes of Central Asia. Like other wild cats Pallas’s cat is solitary and active in the late afternoon. During the day they rest in caves or in burrows and will emerge later to hunt. Pallas’s cats are ambush hunters and will feed on small mammals and ground birds, using rocky terrain and vegetation for cover.

Pallas’s cat is currently listed as near threatened and face threats from hunting for their pelts and internal organs, introduced predators, habitat destruction and prey base decline.
