Rambling about Jill Valentine...
I feel really bad for Jill Valentine in a very meta way. She is like the ignored middle child who always gets crumbs from capcom. Even stories that feel more suited for her seem to go to other characters. FFS she got mind controlled by Wesker for years...surely that's a gold mine to writers to make new games for?? But she is kinda...just somewhere, I guess. I have seen a little bit of original re 3 gameplay on Sam Anderson youtube channel and I could tell...they cut out SO MUCH of her story. Sam was exploring almost the whole Raccoon City throughout her gameplay, and now that I think about it... THAT MAKES SENSE. Jill literally lived and worked in that city. If it's a Jill game, it would make sense that you could explore the city, the police department, and a lot of other places. It would have looked absolutely gorgeous if capcom did the remake justice.
In RE 5, you feel so horrible for her. She was kidnapped, brainwashed, stripped, her body was modified with that P30 machined embedded in her chest...and even then, she fights the mind control when she hears Chris calling for her. It's heart-breaking. And this is the kind of character remakes do SO GOOD!! Look at how much they did with exploring Leon's trauma in remakes. They would have done great with Jill Valentine, we see the glimpses of it in the started of re3r tbh. But then we get nothing. It's sad that it had to happen to Jill. This is why I can't stop thinking about her in re9 storyline. I did ramble about it a bit. It would have been...beautiful. Well, hindsight 20-20, I guess. I just feel like this character was built up so much in the original timeline by capcom but now she is kinda lost. Lost in the timeline streams. Hell, capcom did more for Chris in re8 by giving him and his trauma so much depth and dimension...and he wasn't even the protagonist of that game. (ily ethan bbg)
I hope Jill gets the same love and dedication that Leon and Claire get when new games are made with her as the lead. If they want to get dark, grounded and gritty, she is a great character to explore...especially, if the possible re5 remake keeps the mind control incident.
