Daenerys in season 1: Saves innocent women from being raped by her khalassar
Daenerys in season 2: Mourns the death of the little khalassar who followed her who were murdered brutally and feels guilty that she couldnât protect them
Daenerys in season 3: Frees the unsullied. Takes yunkai with little to no bloodshed and frees nearly 200,000 slaves.
Daenerys in season 4: Helps the slaves take Meereen and once again frees a shit ton of slaves. After having 163 innocent children be crucified on her way to Meereen as a warning for her, decided to in return crucify the Maesters. Maybe not the best decision as not all of them voted for that, but ya know, still slavers. After thought about sailing for Westeros, decided to stay in Meereen because she knew if she left for Kingslanding that the slavers would retake the slaves she freed. Locks up her two remaining dragons because Drogon killed one (1) child.
Daenerys in season 5: Marries someone she loaths in hopes to bring peace to Meereen. Battles and struggles with the reopening of the fighting pits. Eventually accepts to reopen them with conditions. Is forced to watch the fighting and hates every aspect of it. Once sheâd flown away on Drogon, tells him that they need to get back because her people need her.
Daenerys in season 6: After being captured by the Dothraki, threatened to be raped multiple times by multiple leaders, hearing the other Khaleesiâs story about her Khal taking her as his slave when she was 12 years old and breaking her collar bone when she gave him a son, decides to burn down their hut with them inside because theyâre total shit bags who deserved to die. The remaining Khalassar chose to follow her and they proclaim her their Khaleesi. She goes back to Meereen and destorys the Masters who decided to try to take back Meereen. After the battle is done, she has the people chose their leaders and decides to leave Meereen because there is finally peace.
Daenerys in season 7: Takes Varys into her council even though he is the one man who literally helped bargain her off to a war lord, helped send assasins after her and helped destroy her family. Accepts Melisandre even after learning that she once served Stannis. Meets with Jon Snow probably expecting some grubby, harry drunkard but meets a nice, handsome, stubborn King instead. Doesnât believe him when he talks about the Army of the Dead because ya know, sheâd never seen them and believes their a myth, also probably thinking this is a plot from Cersei to get her away from the Throne. Allows him to mine the Dragonglass on her island and ancestral home, expecting nothing in return. After not one, not two, but three of her allies are killed and captured (Dorne, Greyjoys and Tyrells) Daenerys goes off into battle and meets Cerseis army head on. After the battle is over, she gives the remaining soldiers a choice, bend the knee or die. Seems pretty legit to me. Donât know any other monarch who hasnât done that. What did Jon Snow do to Alys Karstark and Ned Umber again? Oh yeah, made them swear fealty to him or heâd take away their homes! Got it. After the two soldiers who opposed her literally say they would rather die than go to the Wall, she burns them. Seems legit. After Jon Snow and co. go on their Wight Hunt to try to convince Cersei about the Army of the Dead, risks her life and her dragons lives to save them beyond the wall. LOSES A DRAGON BECAUSE OF IT. Then pledges herself to HIS cause before he ever pledges himself to her. Ultimately puts her quest for the Throne on hold because she has to help go save everyones lives from the Ice Montser that is the Night King. Sails her way North with her remaining dragons, dothraki, unsullied and close friends and council.
Daenerys in season 8: Gives literally everything short of her own life for the North and Jon Snows war. Loses her oldest companion, her Dothraki, a good portion of her Unsullied and has to battle her own child whoâs been reanimated as a monster to help save the living. Still isnât seen as a hero or really thanked even after helping save everyoneâs lives. The two Stark girls admit to using her resources and tossing her to the side. Tells Jon that is he tells anyone about his identity, the word will spread and people will start plotting against her. Low and behold! Girl was right! The second he told two (2) people, one of them decided that Jon Snow is better than she (go back to where I mentioned that Daenerys risked everything to help save your life, but okay. Logic!) the secret is shared and people start plotting against her to the point of her own freaking advisers trying to poison her because they want Jon Snow on the throne. Retreats back to Dragonstone and suddenly ~ forgets ~ about the Iron fleet (even though the last scene we saw her in they were talking about the Iron fleet?) and her Dragon is taken out by a wannabe Jack Sparrow. Her ships are destroyed. Her best friend is captured and killed infront of her. She attacks Kingslanding and even after the other side literally throws down their swords sheâŚ. wait what? Suddenly goes cRaZy and starts massacring the entire city?? Didnât she just save everyoneâs lives like literally 2 episodes ago? Buuuutt weâre supposed to believe that because Jon Snow didnât bang her the night before, she suddenly goes mad at the sound of bells and goes against everything sheâd fought for the last 7 seasons for? The whole reason she wanted the throne to begin with? To protect the common people from tyrants and those who would wish to harm them? Sounds like bullshit to me!
I donât care if you think dark!dany has been foreshadowed. Foreshadow isnât character arch and it isnât character development. This whole ass time Daenerys has always been the one to put the people before herself. She is one of the few characters in ASOIAF that has always fought for the common people. To have her suddenly ~ go mad ~ and start killing the very same people she sacrificed everything for to save MAKES NO SENSE AND ITâS BAD WRITING.
