Sunny usually left for lunch whenever he was working in the bookstore, but for some reason when Amelia asked him to stay, he couldn’t bring himself to leave. He was mid-bite, noodles stuffing his mouth, when he suddenly felt the urge to spill too many of his secrets to her. She’d been talking about Daniel, again, and Sunny, while used to her doe-eyed mentions of him at random, felt more bubbling up than just hunger. Once he’d swallowed the bite, he pursed his lips and considered his options for a brief moment before ultimately deciding to hell with the cons. “I don’t think Daniel is as amazing as you think he is. I’m not saying he isn’t that for you, but he isn’t for me. He abandoned me. I was alone and I can’t just let that go. I’m not a good guy. I know it, he knows it... so I imagine it isn’t easy for him to have me here, but somehow he allows it. And before you say it isn’t up to him, trust me when I say if he wanted me gone, I would be gone. But for some reason, he allows it, and I think it’s because of you. Because you make him soft. Weak. He was always weak, I mean.. he left me. A strong man doesn’t do that. I wouldn’t do that. And as for you... whatever my early intentions were, none of it matters at this point. It’s all changed. It’s different. I’m different. I’m not saying I’m some wholesome freak like Daniel, but I can be good. And if ever given the chance? You would be the person I choose to kiss. No one else. Just you.”

Lee couldn’t bring himself to look straight at her. He believed he had an idea of what Suji was trying to get out of him but Lee couldn’t just blurt out some of the things he’d thought about regarding her. “I wish I had an iced latte.” He smiled and glanced her way without moving too much. “I’d like to have your talent and your drive. I feel like sometimes I have no motivation to be more than what I am and that what I am isn’t good enough. So I’d wish for that. And I guess I wish ... I don’t know.. that I was just better.” Lee’s voice was quiet by the time he finished and his eyes were closed. He’d never been so honest with anyone before about the thoughts he kept locked away. Forcing a laugh, he shook his head. “I swear, I’m never drinking with you again.”
