One of my first official renders (if you can even call it that) for yttd and the first ever drawing on my main twitter account… WOW the anatomy sucks so much here ranmaru what is that hair volume. I also draw based on memory (most of the time) which is why some of the characters will have slightly inaccurate designs for both before I joined tumblr and after (sorry, not sorry!) also I just realized I drew the details for shin’s scarf but not for midori’s LMAO playing favorites now are we

For an art contest on discord! I spent quite a while cherry picking the monster choices for each floormaster + …Meister and Hinako?? (#peoplenobodyinvited) just kidding HAHA I wanted to include (most of) the Asunaro members here since, halloween and all! (before you ask, I did forget about Gashu’s existence at the time. I apologize.) As for what monster each member is (from left to right order):
Hinako Mishuku: Headless horseman—I don’t exactly remember why I chose this for her, but I think it’s mainly due to her anonymity due to her playing the role of a dead candidate, with the pumpkin covering her face/head. The original Hinako also had something related to that, if you want to stretch it that far.
Tia Safalin: Witch—Chosen mainly because of her ridiculously large hat, but other than that, no further notes…
Sue Miley: Grim Reaper—Due to The Second Trial and The First Main Game! I’d love to see Sue Miley copping a huge black cloak like actually
Meister: Mummy—Quite self explanatory, considering his design… Ranmaru and him have more in common than one may think…
Rio Ranger: Frankenstein monster—From his backstory as a doll built on the likeness of Sei Satou! And the fact that he’s physically put together from so many other parts (the deceased’s clothing).
???: Medusa—Since we don’t know much of her besides physical appearance, this choice was based on her eyes!
Sou Hiyori: Zombie—Coffins, “reviving from the dead”… what DOESN’T scream zombie about this guy??

I remember struggling with Ranmaru's bangs and Sara's sleeve so much on this piece... moreso Ranmaru though.
Original Caption: Love is found in the darkest places
The idea for this piece is kinda tied to the caption above, with Ranmaru finding a place where he can be “loved” and belongs within the dummies, hence “love is found in the darkest places”—Sara meanwhile, is a beam of light (or at the very least in front of one), symbolizing her not sharing the same kind of understanding the dummies do for him because she’s human(?). The light is also him putting Sara on a pedestal, combined with her outfit (virgin mary) she’s seen as a pure savior in Ranmaru’s eyes (someone who gave him a reason to look forward to tomorrow, giving a goal to keep going—which is “winning”).
Looking back at this though I didn’t remember or know what I was thinking while drawing this because Sara does care about Ranmaru in her own way. I’m not trying to imply that she doesn’t with this art 😭😭 ah so sorry! I almost didn’t include this in the dump #man #whatever
Other details I’d like to mention: Sara having subtle tears, which you can see if zoomed in (it’s there I swear), a silent protest/retaliation and a sign of her feelings towards the role she has as a “savior”. And also Ranmaru not having his hand bandages LMAO I FORGOT TO DRAW THEM HERE

Inspired by the Rantaro Amami/Kaede Akamatsu secret cutscene from Drv3 and Kintsugi (“golden repair”). Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing objects (mainly pottery or bowls) using an urushi lacquer dusted with gold, silver, or platinum. Hiyori views her as nothing but a tool, an obstructor; hence why he’s using Kintsugi to patch Maple up here under the guise of nail polish, which is also related to the femininity and lady-like hobbies surrounding her (such as Maple’s tea parties, her discussion room, etc.)
“As a philosophy, it treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise.” — Official wikipedia page for Kintsugi. As said in the quote, it views the damage as apart of history, rather than a mistake or something to be ashamed of; that much is evident with Maple 2.0’s existence, now having been repaired (or you could even say “upgraded”) and equipped with the strongest AIs.

I wanted to try drawing a spotlight light source drawing (is that what it’s called?) and Shin + Midori at the same time so I just merged those two together. At the time I was still using the smudge tool to blend the colors with each other instead of the round airbrush (big mistake), which ended up making Midori’s palette look a little muddy… oops!
I also gave him that “corpse”/porcelain (non-human) look, with Shin’s vibrant colors clashing it, symbolizing how big their “difference” was in every aspect. Speaking of him, note the collar here! A little detail I like to include in my drawings are the dolls having slightly darker sclera than the human participants, as well as collars with heartbeat monitors (<- take note of those two, especially this one! It’ll appear alot in my future artworks!)—which if you look closely, Shin’s heartbeat is very chaotic here… (P.S. Dolls don’t have a heartbeat, so it’s just a flat line on the monitor.)

If you’re an Alien Stage fan you’d recognize this at a single glance LMAO this one is based on the cover art of the song “Bon Bon Jellyfish Planet” by Sua (CV: C!naH) from November 5th, 2025. The roles are assigned as such: Sara: Mizi, Nao: Sua, Joe: Ivan, Ranmaru: Till. As you can see I gave them roles that I thought would fit the characters and their relationship with each other—Sara and Joe’s friendship, Ranmaru’s infatuation with Sara, and Nao’s affection towards her—all of them being heavily affected by Sara herself. I also wanted to include those who are close to her as well in a subtle way, like with Kanna represented through her flowers and Kai in the background painting, symbolizing his watchful eye over Sara.

Speaking of Kai, he’s the “knight in shining armor” with the silver (fencing?) sword protecting Sara, the princess; Whom is wearing a very familiar crown, a little reference to Sue Miley, if you will! As for the rest of the characters, or “lambs”, are color coded based on their role in the death game. Originally, I made Ranmaru the “black sheep of the herd” since he’s canonically a doll/dummy while the rest are human. …But as I’m typing this, I think people could also interpret him being the outlier due to being the only candidate (with the exception of Sara) and the rest, weren’t. I think it’s nice that art can be interpreted in different ways like that! As for the ear fluffiness there’s not really any deeper meaning to it… I think.

Drawn for Alice’s birthday! I’d also drawn a Magical Girl Reko not too long ago as well, I believe? So I stuck with the theme for his birthday as well. The outfit is based around his Samurai Yaiba costume, the rest pulled straight from my imagination. I was trying to figure out how to draw his hair here and in the next Alice illustration (the one with Reko), trying to stick more to the canon look, but as you can see, it doesn’t fit my style all that much.

Waiter waiter another drawing about final attraction please! I think this is the first time I rendered Safalin. …I honestly don’t know how to feel about this man I actually thought I’ve rendered her before but apparently not…?? (Fun fact: this drawing was inspired by the song “Duvet” by bôa!)

The idea here was about Safalin preparing for final attraction which is why there’s laundry and clothes involved. The clothes themselves are in left to right order: Reko, Sara, Reko (x2), Nao. The double Reko is a subtle hint to Fake Reko but that’s probably obvious enough already, but have you noticed the mew chan Safalin is holding at the bottom? It’s suuuperrr unnoticeable but it’s there, you just gotta squint alright!!! She’s also hanging it up (because in the game Safalin agreed to wash it for Gin after a small discussion with him in the game) alongside everything else ‘cause it’s convenient. I wonder what she’s staring at…?

The “unexpected” being Midori’s death (to the yabusame siblings, since it was planned on Asunaro’s part), which in turn exposed themselves to the consent form.
It's as if we're foolish commoners, leaving matters to chance
The Yabusames both having a percentage (chance) in the winner roster, 7.7% for Reko Yabusame and 6.6% for Alice Yabusame respectively; their deaths are also matters that were left to “chance” (that being Sara Chidouin/the player).
Each and every single one of us has warped parts,
I’ll be quoting Qtaro here with this line, “Even if they might be different sizes... We're all carryin' sins...”, as everyone in the death game is carrying their own weight or guilt one way or another; The Yabusames themselves being a major offender. Reko is human just like anyone else among the cast with her own flaws and weaknesses; she isn’t all that great as everyone believed her to be—yet despite that, Alice puts Reko high up on a pedestal, hence “warped parts”.
With the conversation initiated by Alice and Reko being unable to compose herself, both of their “grumblings rush out” during the bongo scene (as it escalates to a full blown argument).

This sounds a little tricky to understand at first (or, it at least was to me), but a good explanation for this would probably be something like the Johari Window. This applies to the two being totally unaware of the danger bestowed upon them in 2-1, whether it be the fake Reko or any of their deaths, among other things.

Speaking of the deaths (Yabusame route split), the blood in the background is a reference/correlation to that!
For Alice, his side is mainly puddles since fake Reko’s head exploded so violently at his abdomen, alot of his blood would splatter everywhere (not to mention that the room of lies is purely white, so yeah good luck cleaning that up dear floormasters); As for Reko, hers is much more drippy—like wet paint running down a wall—due to the knife wound the fake Reko inflicted on her, plus her lit collar. Bonus: I wanted their portraits to parallel each other, so I covered Reko’s left eye with her side bang, and drew Alice having mascara streaks to match!

At the end of the day, there are still many misunderstandings that the two won’t be able to talk about, whether it be due to one or both of them being deceased or because their relationship is simply too broken to repair.

I’m actually running out of intros to use for my yap HAHA just like the previous midori/shin drawing, I wanted to present their differences and how it clashes, especially with pre death game shin’s odd relationship with Hiyori. I also want to redraw this one day…!!
(Sou Hiyori ver.): For Midori’s version, I wanted to put that eerie, creepy uncanny valley vibe and inhuman-like aura in the painting but I’m not too sure if that translated well? I wanted to enhance those features so I deliberately drew Midori hiding his face here (specifically with his hands), because usually humans have a face, an identity you can attach to. But Sou doesn’t. He can be everything and anyone, evident in many of the candidate’s memories with him. Just another cog in the machine called Asunaro, where once you get involved, you lose your freedom (and even worse, your identity,) forever. Hinako is used as a stand-in, Hayasaka is a loose tie, and Hiyori’s no different.
Speaking of cogs and wheels, in the place of his heart are gears, which is also used to enhance his inhumanness while referencing canon as well. It’s recognized as an unidentified object, so there’s no heartbeat to be found. Midori’s also “hiding” here but is actually taking a peek at Shin with a camera in his eye, clearly breaking his boundaries and stressing him out (which is something he does alot in the actual game too), since he’s extremely uncomfortable with photos of him being taken. …much less have them hung up or framed.
Midori is also sized to be noticeably larger than shin here, dominating most of the drawing to show how much power he has over shin in the relationship. The scarf and the angle he’s at is also significantly covering up most of him, which I’ll get into later during Shin’s version. The background is an image of a brain. No further comment!
(Shin Tsukimi ver.): Shin in his version is much smaller, like a prey in a predator’s POV, to show just how much pressure and control Hiyori had over him at that time. His fast-beating heart, which is at 155 bpm, is not only a subtle nod to Sara’s winning percentage, it’s also within the heart rate range of a panic attack. Ain’t that neat?
I’m a little unsure what the emotion recognition thing originally meant since it’s been a while, and the artist (me) has bad memory. (I suppose it’s related to the camera in Hiyori’s version?) I remember adding some kind of meaning to the pose here as well, so maybe something like peekaboo? That’s the best I can remember. There’s nothing in the background that I’d like to point out for this version…

The reason why I worded the caption like this is because when I uploaded the wip it was ““who’s ready for a checkup?”” so basically a matching theme hehe… but it’s also related to both of their characters/writing! They both “died” one way or another, with Hiyori being literally and Shin being metaphorical wise. “That place” is the death game where, again, (one or) both die in their own and separate ways.

This drawing was mainly just to practice grayscale/monochrome so there won’t be as much substance (I tried to squeeze in as much as I can into it either way). You’d think that this is the actual Reko, but you’d be WRONG!!!! [Loud incorrect buzzer] it’s actually Fake Reko… if you pay attention to the lack of heartbeat on her collar monitor 👀… and since dolls don’t and can’t bleed, the blood could only have come from a living source (cough COUGH Reko’s death in 3-1b, that’s why it’s flowing down onto fake Reko).
When I first played yttd I really liked Reko’s character writing, but fake Reko emphasized that fondness so much more as her deep determination to survive and to be seen as human struck such a deep cord within me; mainly because I relate to it, but also because not many in her life were actually seen as a friend by her (as she often isolated herself, which is actually still evident in the death game, shown in pictures 1 and 4 below).
What’s even more is infuriating is that people (INCLUDING ALICE, THE PERSON CLOSEST TO REKO) DISMISSES HER HUMANITY, ESPECIALLY DURING HER CHILDHOOD AND SAMURAI YAIBA ERA. Nobody understands Reko Yabusame… 😢😢

…Yeaaahh I find it a little ironically funny that I followed up from that fake Reko drawing with such a warm and lighthearted birthday art LMAO talk about whiplash. I also sneaked Maple into this drawing if you think about the original caption btw
Original Caption: Departing gift
(It was going to be “Favor” but I ended up changing it last minute.)
The reason why I chose “departing gift” for the caption is due to the idea I had for this art. Hoemi (Sue Miley) is handing Michiru (Tia Safalin) a bento/lunch box which might suggest that it was meant for her, but it’s actually supposed to be for her fiancé, and Michiru has a box of her own that she’s holding at the bottom of the drawing. There’s a poster behind them that reads “WE’RE WAITING FOR YOU” & “JOIN ASUNARO NOW” with Meister as the mascot, which is undoubtedly for Hoemi as the other is already in her Asunaro uniform while she’s still in the laboratory outfit, having yet to be influenced by the organization (Michiru being in the darkness while Hoemi’s basking in light further emphasizes this). The lunch box is inadvertently a departing gift for her own fiancé, who’s currently being targeted by Asunaro in order to wrap her around their finger. A demise perfectly orchestrated from the shadows.

I WAS THINKING ABOUT THE DUMMIES SO MUCH DURING THIS PERIOD my goodness… Real Hinako and her trial in particular! The blood around the stairs and the tiled floor are a reference to Hinako’s trial room, the stairs itself being about how the trial itself worked. As for the golden frame surrounding her, please recall the Hinako drawing in floor 4’s gallery room, since it’s meant to mimic it.
The two people standing at the edge are Rio Ranger and the fake Hinako, both with their own agendas to follow. Hinako’s there to “retrieve” the clothes her “human” counterpart left behind, whereas Ranger had just finished beating up the dead horse. (what the hell man wats wrong wit u /joke)

I was initially inspired by Kurumada’s first trial for this, but I actually didn’t want to draw him (for whatever reason), so I opted for Kobushi. …Don’t you find it insane. That I’ve rendered KOBUSHI OF ALL CHARACTERS. Before Naomichi Kurumada. .. Because I sure do.

It’s a little hard to see, but Kobushi is trying to bargain with Hiyori here, trying to get some kind of info on where his student is. His hands are also imitating the walls that crushed Kurumada hehe… what’s left to put in the ground if you can’t even find any flesh to grab onto?
