Okay, as much as I love Rocky extending Grace's life without telling him, consider: Rocky *does* tell Grace, Grace just then somehow manages to like. Horrendously misinterpret what the treatment is actually for. Like.
Eridian Doctor: We went through the human genome and found a bunch of places with old broken DNA repair mechanisms so we came up with a gene editing therapy that fixes them in order to extend your lifespan.
Grace: *flashbacks to when Rocky found out that humans can experience long term effects from lower doses of radiation exposure and Grace wasn't being as careful as he should have been back when they first met because he still thought this was gonna be a suicide mission*
Grace (internally): Oh, so cancer prevention! Got it!
Grace: Sounds good!
*like 100 years later*
Grace: Hey Rocky, how am I not dead yet?
Rocky: ???
Eridian doctor: this treatment will increase your bone density to prevent them breaking
Grace internally: Oh right, low gravity can cause bone degradation. Makes sense that after so long in space it'd be good
Grace: sounds good to me!
One modification to the LPR5 gene later
Grace falls off a cliff
Grace: Hey why didn't I break any bones???
Rocky: ??? We made your bones strong statement
They add more salt or something to the water in his enclosure so that he can still swim comfortably despite the increased density.

Sapphic Dynamic where the popular queen bee type is hopelessly in love with the weirdo girl that runs Anime Club. She's so down on herself, writing in her diary "Erin is so cool. She can beat Super Mario Brothers in under five minutes, she learned Japanese to read imported manga, and she runs an Anime Club even though nobody shows up. She's committed to that club longer than I've committed to a hair style. I just know about clothes and makeup, she'd be so bored by me. Oh what would I do for her attention?"
Her cheerleader friends are supportive, like "Are you kidding, girl? You played Sonic on your iPhone once! She's not out of your league!" but she still doubts if she'd be enough to keep up with Erin's zest for life.
"I went to Paris over Summer break, like some normie loser. Erin spent the entire Summer decompiling an abandonware point-and-click Nancy Drew game so she could port it to her Android phone. It's hopeless, she'd get bored of me in a week!"
They're both on fire now

had to share this
In every way this is set up to be a joke like any other short video, it even uses the trope of main character in a wig to represent their mom, but it isn't funny at all. It's just sweet and nice
“fujoshis are harmful to gay men” not this gay man.
on twitter this got a bunch of responses like “wow even the evil fujoshis? the homophobic yet hypocritically fetishistic ones? what if the fujoshi is racist?” and like well no obviously not in that case.
“shoutout to everybody from new jersey!” “even the new jersey serial killers…?”
This page from one of my history books looks like a lesbian utopia.

Very similar vibes - this 1899 illustration from Puck of butchy (for the time) lesbians looking like the coolest, hottest women to ever walk the earth

personally i think it'd be super funny if erid was like, REALLY concerned about the ethical implications of "keeping an intelligent individual "trapped" in an enclosure where they might feel pressured to not speak up and simply do what other eridians tell them out of fear of death", so they have a whole ethics committee full of social workers and eridian rights lawyers and stuff. meanwhile grace is just like "hey my zookeepers, can you make it rain in my cage tomorrow. thanks <3"
i do think what gets ignored about carrie as a character is that she’s an incredibly easy target to bully; she’s a chubby, sheltered acne ridden teenage girl who wears frumpy grandma clothes and regurgitates the jesus freak shit her violently abusive mother tells her. she has violent thoughts about her classmates and is uncomfortable to be around. she’s far more interesting being a victim that’s somewhat uncomfortable to be in the head of than a tragic waif. she’s not a martyr, she’s a child and a child who’s been victimised her whole life shouldn’t have to be kind and angelic to be recognised as a victim. suffering teenage girls shouldn’t just be presented on screen as toned down glamorous thin ophelias, suffering teenage girls can be fat and poor and think violently. i do think we need to examine why culturally we need teenage girls to be beautiful and kind to valorise their suffering and treat it as bad
Arthurian characters ranked by how good a geologist I think they'd be:
Uther. There is no evidence he knows what a rock is. 0/10
Gawain. Could probably swing a rock hammer pretty hard, but has a history of not disclosing outside funding. 2/10
Bedivere. Likely has some experience in studying geography when making battle plans. 3/10
Arthur. He touched a rock once. He also has a decent amount of patience and strategy skill from being a king. 4.5/10
Lancelot. Good at getting lost in the woods, but I think he would forget to label his samples. 4.5/10
Tristan. He jumped off a cliff and survived once, which is a very geologist thing to do. 5/10
Merlin. Apparently very good at putting swords in stones, which means he knows what rocks are. Points off for getting trapped in a cave. 6/10
Morgan le Fay. Has experience in employing the scientific method through her attempts to murder Arthur, and is generally a very learned woman. 9/10
Palomides. Knows that the Earth is round, and is good at finding things in the wilderness. He cried by a well once, thereby demonstrating his knowledge of groundwater systems. 10/10
@currentlycryingaboutlancelot You're so right I forgot about that, she really is the geologist of all time.

all millenials have absolute permission to be ~wacky~ bc we are all driven insane by the fact that we were the ONLY generation to have access to certain technologies and we sound fucking crazy trying to explain it to people
everyone before us lived in the pre-digital age.
everyone after us lived in the enshittified post .com era
we and we alone were juuuust aged right for the point in time where we had sick ass gumdrop looking computers and phones of all shapes and sizes and you could go out in the world and be human and imperfect without some chode recording you
fucking hell
shit was free and gmail was, actually, simple and reliable.
the internet was *so cool*
now they want you to pay for Youtube and show your ID to watch it
One of my favourite bits of media history trivia is that back in the Elizabethan period, people used to publish unauthorised copies of plays by sending someone who was good with shorthand to discretely write down all of the play's dialogue while they watched it, then reconstructing the play by combining those notes with audience interviews to recover the stage directions; in some cases, these unauthorised copies are the only record of a given play that survives to the present day. It's one of my favourites for two reasons:
It demonstrates that piracy has always lay at the heart of media preservation; and
Imagine being the 1603 equivalent of the guy with the cell phone camera in the movie theatre, furtively scribbling down notes in a little book and hoping Shakespeare himself doesn't catch you.
