180306 | 1st week of march spread and list of math skills to improve i tend to put weird stuffs like âsmileâ whenever i know that there would be a stress-inducing activity that day. also, those words under the bullet points are pretty much rants. i write them there pretty much just to keep track of my emotions during most of the day. this is the reality. yes, iâve been stressing a lot for the sat test on the tenth. iâm a very anxious person, you see, and my practice scores are nowhere near my goal. i know, grades and scores are not everything. however, i really really want to achieve my goal score. i feel like iâve been slacking too much and thus not being able to do well on the practice tests. i hope youâre having a better week!
Formulas to Remember for the Math Section of SAT
Algebra
Percents:
Percent Change= Change/Original Ă 100
Part = Percent /100 Ă Whole
Examples:
75% of 300 is what?
Solve x = (75/100) Ă 300 to get 225
45 is what percent of 60?
Solve 45 = (x/100) Ă 60 to get 75%
Example: 30 is 20% of what?
Solve 30 = (20/100) Ă x to get 150
Average Speed = total distance/total time
Distance =rate Ă time
 FOIL: (x + a)(x + b) = x ^2 + (b + a)x + ab
Difference of Squares:
a)Â Â Â Â a ^2 â b ^2 = (a + b)(a â b)
b)Â Â Â a ^2 + 2ab + b^ 2 = (a + b)(a + b)
c)Â Â Â Â a ^2 â 2ab + b^ 2 = (a â b)(a â b)
Distance Formula: Â SQRT (x2 â x1) ^2 + (y2 â y1) ^2
Mid-point of the segment AB: x1 + x2 /2, y1 + y2/2
Slope of the line: y2 â y1 / x2 â x1 = rise run
Geometry
Opposite Angles are equal, so a+b and 180 degrees.
All the âaâsâ are equal and all the âbâsâ are equal. Any âaâ plus any âbâ equals 180 degrees.
 Right Triangle Formulas***
Triangle area= ½*b*h ***
Angles in a triangle add up to 180 degrees.***
 Circles
Area of a Circle = Ďr2 ***
Circumference = 2Ďr ***
Full circle = 360⌠***
Length Of Arc = (n ⌠/360⌠) Ă 2Ďr
Area Of Sector = (n ⌠/360⌠) Ă Ďr2
Total number of degrees in the interior of an n-sided polygon= (n-2) à 180 where n is the number of sides.
For example, an eight-sided polygon (or octagon) has:
(8 â 2) ¡ 180 = 6 ¡ 180 =  1080 degrees
 Arithmetic
Arithmetic sequence formula: an=a1+d(n-1)
a1=first term, d =distance between the numbers, and n= term to find
Example: Find tenth term in 3,7,11âŚ.
a10=3+4(10-1)= 63
Geometric sequence formula: an=a1Ăr(n-1)
a1=first term, r =rate  between the numbers, and n= term to find
Example: Find 6th term in 3,6,12âŚ
a6=3Ă2(6-1) = 3Ă2 5=3Ă32= 96
Functions
I was putting together a cheat sheet for studying for the math section of the SAT. Hope this helps some of you! :)
*** on the SAT given formulas, but still good to know by heart.Â
Is the Studyblr Community still active?
I just went through and unfollowed everyone who has not posted in months or years (!) and noticed just how many studyblrs had gone inactive! My heart was so heavy to see some names I used to love be inactive for 6 months, 10 months, a year.Â
If you are still active on studyblr, reblog or like this! I would love to follow some new quality blogs and hope that some people check me out as welllll
how to get straight aâs
a step by step guide by yours truly.
step 1. contemplate and list your five top goals. be specific and think ahead. more simply, where do you want to see yourself in ten years?Â
step 2. ask yourself if youâll need excellent grades to achieve any of them. if not, then set your priorities according to your goals. having good grades are nice, but whatâs even nicer? doing what we love and actually mastering the craft and be successful in that field. of course, do pay attention to your grades, but you most likely wonât need straight aâs if your answer is no to this question.Â
step 3. devise a plan for yourself or find model plans.Â
step 4. test the plan.
step 5. if the plan works, follow through. if not, go back to step 3 until you succeed. donât be discouraged by errors! every errors bring you closer to success. perseverance is the key.Â
and voila, a study plan/method thatâll bring your way to the realm of aâs.Â
iâm writing this while doing something else and iâm pretty sure that iâll find embarrassing errors here and there later on

reblog if youâre a studyblr! Looking for new blogs to follow :)Â
âyou are the âcâ of a quadratic function. ax²+bx+c. yes, that last factor is you. now, suppose âcâ has any numerical value, positive or negative, other than zero (other than zero because you are alive right now) and âax²â and 'bx' are the other people; your parents, your brothers and sisters, your friends, your lover. these people disappear when 'xâ is at zero, right? the function would also equal zero but, as i said earlier, you are the 'câ of this quadratic function. in your case, the numerical value of 'câ is never zero. you always have a value. and sometimes, when 'xâ is at zero, âcâ will still have a value and you will be the only person who is going to be there, for your own self. so, take care of yourself. the art of self care is very difficult to master at times and still, you are the 'câ of this quadratic function. you will always have a value.â

Unpopular truths you should keep in mind!
While most of the studyblr community is really empowering, uplifting and inspiring, there are also ideals and misconceptions that are really harmful, so please always keep in mind:
You don´t need straight A´s. In some subjects, or basically in life, passing is sometimes enough. Don´t expect yourself to get only straight A´s and destroy yourself for these grades.
Your health, physical and mental, is more important than your grades.
Not everyone enjoys studying. Some studyblrs may be there because they try to motivate themselves, not because they love studying.
You don´t need expensive stationery. Cheap ones are more than enough.
You don´t need to wish for stationary for christmas or your birthday. Wish for something your really want and what brings you joy.
Staying up all night and having only 4 hours of sleep is not healthy!
Drinking multiple coffees per day every day is very bad for your stomach and heart!
Being productive can mean lots of things. It means something different for everyone, and while for some of us it means studying 8 hours a day, for others it may mean 2 hours, or maybe just organizing and sorting out stuff.
Not every day is the same. While today may be wonderful and productive, tomorrow may be not so productive. You are a human being, not a machine.
Honestly, being 100 days in a row productive is more harmful than helpful. Take that day off if you need too!
Your bullet journal must not be perfect or artsy. As long as it helps you organize your stuff and as long as you are happy with it, everything is fine!
You don´t need to do calligraphy to be a studyblr or a good student.
You don´t need to rewrite all your notes. As long as you know how to learn from them, that is enough.
Your handwriting doesn´t need to beautiful. You (and your teachers) should be able to read it without problems, that´s all.
Studying too much can make you depressed. But that is normal and will pass.
Just because others may find a class easy does not mean you have to. Everyone has weaknesses and strengths.
Ambience and piano music is not for everyone. It is totally okay if you listen to heavy metal while studying, as long as you can concentrate.
Getting up early is not always good for being productive. If you are not a morning person, you might not be able to concentrate.
Your background does not have to be white.
You do not have to study on your bed or wrapped in blankets. There are enough people who get tired by doing so.
Your desk will be messy more often than not, and that is totally okay.
Everyone is procrastinating sometimes.
Planning your whole day or week, including every single minute, does not make sense. You will have moments where you will just sit there and stare, you may want to eat an unplanned snack or whatever. Don´t try to plan every second. Give yourself some freedom.
Enjoy your breaks. Don´t minimize them down to just 5 minutes. Take breaks as long as you need them to be in order to feel well and to focus again.
Don´t revise in your head as soon as you´re not studying. Give yourself times where you don´t think about it at all.
You don´t have to revise on your way to school. There are many other productive things you can do, even if it is only waking up and mentally prepairing yourself for the day.
180227 | lamentations
as i flip through the pages, feelings began to emerge in my heart. all sorts of feelings, pleasant or not.
however much i love the convenience of living in an urban setting, i canât help the fact that a part of my soul, the id part of my psyche dare i say, belongs in nature. oh i miss those times walking in midst of evergreen trees, smelling the scent of soil, and listening to birds chirping.
that brings me to a criticism for my countryâsome of its people, actually.
indonesia has an abundance of natural treasures. what a shame, though, that we donât appreciate it enough. wherever attractions of nature exists, litter is. of course, not each and every, but give me a break and take my point only.
for example, there is a place that i used to visit often before i moved from baliâbali botanic garden, or kebun raya bedugul as weâd call it. it has some spots that are popular tourist attractions, places where people would take pictures and have their pictures taken, and of course, spots for picnic.
i liked, loved, to take walks there, following hidden tracks that eventually lead back to civilisation. with my affection for the place ever so present, my heart could only break as i see empty bags of chips and other plastic litter claiming the leavesâ place among the grasses. come to this country, and guaranteed youâll see the product of such carelessness. such a shame, people could still be this mindless.
i lament for my people, for their disconnection to nature. i lament for the people with an abundance access to nature who leave their hometowns just to gamble their lives in the city. i lament for the youths that doesnât get to experience the beauty of nature outside the screen. i lament for the irresponsible acts of my people. i lament for those who cannot appreciate the beauty of nature.
i dare you to counter my wordsâoh, iâd be glad if you do. however, for now, iâd like for you to listen to my lamentations.
(p.s. i didnât edit this, nor did i reread this so i beg your pardon for my mistakes) (p.p.s that bowl of mung bean porridge has nothing to do with this but it fits the aesthetics so)
180226 | intro hey, itâs my first time having a studyblr! to start, my name is belinda, but most call me bel. iâve been homeschooled since 2015 due to some circumstances which prevented me from going to school. i decided to start a studyblr because of the testimonies of people in the community as well as the tempting possibility of healthy friendships. i enjoy painting, reading, biology, philosophy, psychology, mythology, yoga, star wars, marvel, bts, dean, harry potter, and more! iâm currently selling my paintings for charity and have a dream of helping children with cancer. most of my basic informations can be found on my about page, but feel free to contact me on anytime!
