The Short Jacket from 1950: Vogue 2934

Short jackets went especially well with dresses which is what most women spent the 1950s wearing except when they were in fitted suits. This jacket has a cut-on sleeve, darted neckline, rolled cuffs, and closes with a bound buttonhole or frogs. It’s good with a slim-waisted silhouette for brisk days or evenings in the fall or spring.

I made it in a blue-grey mohair velvet, a fabric originally meant for upholstery with a lot of body. And yes, you do want to pet the velvet. A friend of mine made it in a brown wool and trimmed it with a brown faux fur tipped in dark gold. For a simple pattern, it gives you lots of options.
