An underlying fact that I love about the reboot of the series Roots was that they showed how black music is co-opted by white people. The song in the series was originally a lullaby song by Kunta Kinteâs mother, sung to him when he was younger, which he eventually passed down to his children, which was heard and played by Fiddler (who forgotten the song and said his grandmother also used to sing that to him), which is heard by other people. Eventually on the last episode it was a white person playing a slightly different version of the song, which sounded a lot like Country music. Itâs a bittersweet way how the song was carried on, but very well done by the series.
i really hope yâall non-blacks take the time to watch roots tbh because if itâs just black ppl watching thatâs real sad
we know our history, we know our pain, we were there and weâre still in it
this wasnât just for us, but for all the people who keep telling us to get over it. we want you to see what it is exactly you keep saying we need to âget overâ. it was even worse than what was shown, they were kind enough to leave some things out
watch it and tell me how you âget overâ that kind of horror and generational trauma?? that displacement. that cultural confusion. that fear. that anxiety. that hopelessness. really, tell me how weâre supposed to âget overâ that shit

âWhat does this picture tell you? My doctor has had this âprocessed foodâ on her counter ever since 2010 and 2011 respectively. I asked her why she had it out, she stated âto show people what they are putting into their bodiesâ. This is man-made âprocessed foodâ, not real food. Over time real food will decay, grow mold and produce a decomposing odor. This âprocessed foodâ has not done any of that, matter of fact it has kept itâs original size, shape and texture. Your body has to work harder to breakdown and digest this stuff over real food. Since Iâve seen this, I have not had any fast food.â
