Pyro telling people to make discord tickets for snitching is a terrible idea. It's a waste of the mod's time and very easily exploitable by jerks with ulterior motives. For example:
"Hey Pyro Mods, this person has posted many fics on Ao3 purposely breaking Pyro's boundaries. You need to find them and make sure they're banned in Pyro's community"
"What's that? You can't find the fic anymore? Well, they probably just hid them but they're still writing the unfinished one."
"What? That author doesn't exist? Maybe they locked down their whole account. Authors do that sometimes when they get a lot of bots or hate comments."
"Oh, there's no way to verify their twitch or discord usernames from an Ao3 username? Well, I know what it is. It's LifeCritical and they've been very disrespectful, as you can see from these screenshots. I can share some screenshots of their discord too if you need"
(I'm not including a picture of my actual discord account for this bit)
"I just wanted to be a good fan and make sure Pyro is aware that people are breaking their boundaries." Y'know... the thing that makes them uncomfortable
Funny story, by the way. These are screenshots of ao3 on a web browser, but if you look closely, I made sure to leave some discrepancies in them to make it obvious they're fake
I think the discord text is noticeably fake. I made all of these fake screenshots in about twenty minutes because I was bored waiting for my laundry to finish. Imagine if I took the time to make them look real. Imagine if I had a target that I wanted to hurt.
How in-depth will these "private resolutions" go? Will the mods search for the fics or will they take screenshots at face value? Will they talk to the accused party at all?
If the mods are overworked with tons and tons of tickets, would a ticket like this could slip by without dispute?
And if they find out people are faking screenshots, how could they possibly take anyone's accusations seriously? The entire system goes out the window the moment you realise that no accusation can be proven either way if fics can be locked down or anonymised, mods can be blocked, and evidence can be forged.
This is all to state the ineffectiveness of it. I've already made my opinions on the hostile environment is creates quite clear.
