Her shimmering scales slide through the water, Just visible under the surface And her voice curdles my blood, Turning my veins into rivers That flow directly to her. When she pulls me under the water I am surrounded by fog, And the echoing sound Of my heartbeat Filling the water. I can hear the life Pumping through my veins. I can hear everything I have to lose. I can hear her. Even without the siren, I could drown under here. Wanting to hear my pulse; Wanting to feel alive Like the ocean does. How many heartbeats Do you think we could count In the salty water Of the sea? How many? Mine is so loud. I could fill the ocean with it. I could dye it red And turn the waves into drums, Beating along with my heart.
