Lavender Promotion Part 1
Wide Awake Part 1 was released on June 24, 2013 and Part 2 is set to be released today on June 25 // PROMOTION:
Introducing Sydney: Sydney Lavender is an 18 year old blonde female who awakens at home with no memories of her past of identity. She finds out she had disappeared for an entire month, was adopted and her adopted father had been murdered on the same night of her disappearance. Someone who goes by the alias 'A' knows the truth, and uses this to torment with Sydney and her friends.
Why was Sydney Lavender the right protagonist?
She's intriguing because there are two sides to her - the mean, bully she used to be and the down to earth, sarcastic girl she is now. It's exciting following these characteristics and seeing on how it plays with the mystery.
When will we find out who killed George Frost and on what really happened that night?
It's something that'll be addressed this season [on who killed George] but the actual, entire stream of events will probably be revealed at some point in the future.
There's a lot of confusion on Christine, Alex and Tony's friendship with Sydney. Can you elaborate on that?
You sort of see that they all do know each other well, but you don't know why and when. Well, you know the Blackthorne brothers live in the same house as Sydney do, so that's sort of an instant connection there. But you'll see more of their friendship in future chapters.
Are the pendants something we should be looking at?
Definitely. Everything is a clue in the series. That's something we throw at the readers every now and then, but it won't make sense until the end. But you'll definitely see more of the pendants soon.
Sydney's flashbacks make it seem like she really did kill him and there's no other 'loophole' that would make it seem otherwise - so did she really kill him?
Well, I'm obviously not going to tell you the answer to on whether she killed him or not, but yes, I agree. It does seem like she killed him, doesn't he? She did stab him and run away with the knife. We'll see more from that night in the next chapter, Twin Connection.
Are Jeremy and Rose central characters with their story line?
They're very important characters, but you won't see them in every single chapter like our leads [Sydney, Christine, Tony and Alex] will. But they're important and you'll meet them properly in chapter 3 and 4.
Is the murderer and 'A' connected?
Michelle is very suspicious and she quits her job as a maid as soon as Sydney returns. Connections?
Everything in Ravenled is connected. You should be looking at Michelle closely, she knows a lot more than you may think and is a source for a lot of information. Is she 'A'?
What can you tease about Twin Connection?
You'll be introduced to two very important characters, Vanny and Nhan, identical twins who are runaway orphans. You'll also meet characters such as Amanda, Miggy, Jake, that will become more crucial to the story later on in the series. Overall, a very big chapter. We don't hold back.
Can you tell us more about what's going to happen in 1A?
A very emotional ride, we have a good balance of personal arcs as well as plot driven arcs. You'll see a lot more of Sydney, Christine, Alex and Tony's past. They're all connected somehow.
Tony's a very dark character and his character is the polar opposite, intentional?
Yes. They've both experienced many things in their life but Tony, being older, takes on these life experiences differently than Alex has. There's a reason on why Tony is the way he is and on why Alex is the way he is. You'll see a little more of Tony personally in chapter 3 and Alex a little down the road with his relationship with Sydney.
Any coupling any time soon?
For sure. You'll see a lot of tension within the group with on who wants to be with who. They've all dated each other in the past and now it's more of are these feelings still in tact now that Sydney's a new person?
How long do you intend to write the entire series for?
I can very easily end it with just one book but then it wouldn't feel like closure to the entire mythology of Lavender. So I'd say at least four, maybe even more. But for now I'll play it safe with four books.
Is there a lot of world building?
For most of the beginning we're kind of stuck in one place. You have 18 year old's running around in a small town, there's not much we can do. We try to extend the world with the forest and the liars will be going across the country by the end of 1A.
Where are they going and why?
I can't say, but it's very interesting and scary. I'd say more scary.
Is it possible George is alive?
His body is buried on the ground, so no. He's dead.
What is one of your favorite story lines so far in 1A?
The personal story lines are very interesting I enjoy writing them. Christine especially. She's had three completely different personalities throughout her life and you'll get to see all three in an upcoming chapter where we focus on her past with a particular character.
