imagine believing that "saving" this near 40 year old man from his own bigotry hinges on whether a girl half his age will or won't put out. also in this case he is only being a "gentleman" because in his mind mary-beth is a young, beautiful, potentially naive woman that he can manipulate and deceive for his own satisfaction, not because he cares about women in literally any capacity. and if mary-beth had said yes to him then it would only be a matter of time before he harmed her somehow 👍
