matty smiled a bit confused at the offer, as if he couldnât quite believe it. âyou want me to sit with you?â he asked, pointing between himself and the chair. âlike⌠after i tripped over you almost?â his smile widened and he let out a laugh. âwell thanks man, thatâs nice, i would love to.â matty hadnât gotten very many new friends in town so far and he would love some.
âOf course, you sound surprised. I quite enjoy company. Even if itâs the type who wants to trip over me.â Robert joked lightly with a grin. âWonderful, so, tell me a little about yourself. What brought you to Bayview?â
Darren grinned. âYeah, she definitely knows how to use her cuteness to get people to look her way,â he chuckled. âSheâs already a handful and sheâs just a little past one. As if she could understand what was going on, Amore giggled happily at the attention, causing Darren to laugh softly. âThank you, she knows sheâs a cutie,â he shook the manâs hand. âWelcome to Bayview,â he said finally. âAre you enjoying it so far?â
âOh, itâll get worse. Wait âtil you get to those terrible twos.â Robert claimed with a grin. She really was adorable. It made him miss all the more. âThank you, and yes. I am. Itâs a nice little town. Very peaceful.â
âIf I had more confidence in my law skills, I wouldnât have gotten fired,â he laughed with the other man, before shaking his head. He was in a much better place acting and producing than he had ever been in any other career he had tried to make work. Crossing his arms over his chest, he listened as Robert talked about the project.
âNot a bad gig, then,â he nodded his approval, tipping his head to one side. âI think itâs always fun to be able to work on projects with friends, especially.â
Robert shrugged his shoulders. âYou should have all the confidence regardless. Thatâs what gets you by in this life.â He insisted softly. If one could have too much confidence, itâd be Robert without a doubt. It was probably the only good thing that came out of his childhood.
âOh, it is, Mark is a riot sometimes. Iâm just not too sure about talking about pollution for two hours.â
âPretty soon youâll be seeing a lot of familiar faces around, donât worry.â Elizabeth promised. It had been a few months since she moved into Bayview and plenty of her costars had come and gone during her stay.
She threw her hands up in defeat. âI mean, if you insist. I wonât try and argue with you, good sir.â She took a few more sips of the beverage as he spoke. âA documentary? Really? Well, it sounds like a fun project to be involved in. Oh thereâs a ton of us here in town. I think we might be missing a handful of the cast mates but we might be able to pull off a small reunion.â She laughed.
âWell, Iâm hoping so. Might help me come out of my shell a little, God knows I need that.â Robert joked. Usually, he was a social butterfly, but lately? Since his divorce, at least, heâd been kind of too to himself. It was concerning.
âI know Stanny boy is running around here somewhere. Who else is here?â Robert asked curiously.

Darren smiled warmly, and apologetically. âThank you,â he said, and handed the bear back to his one-year-old after dusting it off a bit, since he knew that Amorette liked to try to bite it. It was a very cute bear that had been through a lot.
âNot this one, no,â he replied with another smile, playing with Amoreâs hair fondly as he spoke. âSheâs a mermaid,â he said. âI guess Amore wanted to get your attention because she knows how big of a fan I am,â he laughed softly. âIâm Darren,â he said, offering his hand. âAnd this is my little girl, Amore,â
Robert chuckled softly at the words. âWell, thatâs one way to grab someoneâs attention. Sheâs going to be a handful when sheâs older,â he warned him. âHow old is she? Not much younger than my own girl, I reckon. Sheâs very adorable.â He complimented the small child. Robert reached out to take his hand and give it a firm shake. âNice to meet you. Iâm Robert.â
âWell, thatâs very interesting. Especially because itâs such a big issue right now. Best of luck with it,â Helena grinned. She tried not to get involved with a lot of current issues, but she did have her opinions. âI could see why you would be if youâre not from there. Itâs a strange environment to get used to.â
Robert nodded his head. âIt is, I donât really keep up with it, if Iâm being honest. But, Mark is often talking about such things, Iâve caught on a little.â He admitted softly. âThe weather is just murderous, yes.â
âtrying to not cry, good at holding it back,â matty joked, even if it wasnât funny at all but he was a bit overwhelmed by the whole situation, meeting someone and tripping over them was just something that had that effect on him. âso uhm⌠itâs lovely to meet you. i am justâŚâ he pointed with his thumb towards the order place. âgoing to be awkward over there now. hope you enjoy the drink and⌠whatnot.â
Robert raised a brow as the other was quick to try and retreat. âIt was lovely to meet you and you know, I donât mind company,â Robert found himself offering, gesturing to the empty seat across from him.
Gerard as a lawyer was a truly fucked idea, and he knew that no matter what side of the law he was on, he wouldnât necessarily be the best choice for it. But at least it made for an interesting coffee topic. âNo, youâd be calling me that son of a bitch who ended up getting you into more trouble than I got you out of,â he laughed, shaking his head as he spun his coffee mug carefully in his hand before nodding his head. âIt helps make it an easier transition, thatâs for sure.â
Having come to town years ago for a bit of rest and relaxation â and maybe some rehab â Gerard was more than glad to say that he was now there because he happily lived there. âAh, thatâll be nice,â he nodded, crossing his legs at the ankles. âThat gives you a bit of downtime until then. Whatâs the documentary about?â
Robert chuckled softly. âSuch low confidence in your law-skills.â He found himself tutting towards the other. He lifted his coffee to take another long drink, considering the words. It was an easy move for him. He was definitely in need of a change, so that helped greatly.Â
âMhmm. We havenât really started on it, yet, but Markâs an eco-nut. Pollution, global warming-- all those bad things piled into one with my voice to tell you the warnings.â
[Text: Science Bro]: I thought the unpredictable one was me?
[Text: Science Bro]: I expect your usual quirks.
[â - Green Machine]: No. Of course not, why would it? I'm the crazy one, not you.
[â - Green Machine]: I'll buy you pizza if you help tonight. Good pizza, too. None of that unhealthy stuff you are probably against.

Letting out a snorting laugh when the other man made mention of âyour honor,â Gerard couldnât help the crack of a smile that slid across his face as he shook his head and moved himself over to where Robert had made himself comfortable, dropping down to join him at his table rather unceremoniously, an affable nature about him as he see-sawed his head back and forth. âI was almost a lawyer, does that count for something? Or am I only fooling myself there?â he laughed at the idea, before reaching out to clasp the other manâs shoulder with a more sincere, warm smile on his face. âItâs good to see you again, man. Truly.â
When he continued to ask him if he was there for work, the Scot shook his head, lifting his mug to his lips to take a sip, and then leaned back in his chair. âCanât say that I am. Iâve lived here for three years now, old-timer. Iâve worked plenty, though, donât get me wrong, just was in a film that premiered last week in town, but right now Iâm doing what my mum tells me. Laying low. How about yourself? What brings you to town?â
Robert chuckled softly as he sat back down, glad the other decided to join him. âI would have hired you in a heart beat, so of course it counts. Wouldnât be calling you âhonorâ, though. That only goes for the officials.â He told the man with a wink. He gave a nod of his head and lifted his cup to take a long sip before replying, âIt is. Iâm glad to know Iâve got a few good friends in town, honestly.â
His brows raised. Three years? Robert had been quite out of touch, he almost cursed himself for it. âAlmost the same, honestly. Iâm working on a documentary, but itâs not something thatâll be getting started until a month or two.â He admitted softly.
With Stef being busy for the day, Darren decided to take his kids out for a walk. Luckily the weather was kind and Lennon wasnât very fussy. He was mostly asleep as he walked, while Amore was the one who was awake for the day, pointing to all the trees and random objects she could find. For a one year old, she was pretty observant already.
It was nice to get some fresh air in the park, especially since he had been indoors a lot lately, busy working and taking care of the kids. But at least he had chosen a good day to go for it. He looked down when he heard a giggle and Amoretteâs teal bear flying off somewhere. âSweetie, donât throw Ariel around like that,â he chuckled, then saw where the bear had landed, nearly choking on his words. âOh-um-hi,â he said, almost too nervous to continue speaking.
Robert looked up when he felt something brush against his leg, only to find it to be a little bear. He put the newspaper down on the table for later and reached down to grab the bear, lifting his head up and offering it to the man who had seemed to be going for it anyway.Â
âHello, there. I think your daughter dropped this,â he reckoned, looking at the small girl and smiling. âItâs not nice to throw your friends around,â he advised. âUnless he can fly? Then I apologize for being in his soaring way.â
it was awkward, matty hated doing things like this but it was like he couldnât stop himself from being just that, clumsy. he smiled softly though as the man explained himself and then he did something even more awkward which was snapping his fingers together and exclaim. âha, thatâs where i know you from, youâre iron man!â he stopped, biting his lip before he started laughing. âsorry, sorry, i swear i am not this awkward and embarrassing usually⌠i mean, it often doesnât show until youâve known me for a few minutes.â he cleared his throat and then held his hand out in a greeting manner. âiâm matty. itâs uhm, lovely to meet you. trip over you. or what you say.â
Robert managed a smile at the words. âYouâre completely fine. At least youâre not crying because Iâm not wearing the Iron Man suit like most kids.â He joked lightly as he took the young manâs hand, giving it a firm shake. âPleasure to meet you, Iâm Robert -- you know that, but well... you introduced yourself so I have to do so, too.â
Sebastian barked a surprised laugh as Robert quoted his own movie at him. âModest,â he taunted with a fond shake of his head as he took a sip of his Americano. âYou know, itâs actually cooler if you let other people quote your own movies back at you,â he bit down on the smile threatening to overtake his face at his joke.
âShit. Well, Iâm going to gamble on your benevolence, in that case,â Sebastian huffed on a laugh as he settled into the chair across from Robert, giving the German Shepherd a besotted look. âAbout a year ago, right before I moved to Bayview,â he explained, rubbing a hand over the dogâs head as he settled under Sebastianâs chair, âand donât I know it, heâs in another league of cuteness than me,â he admitted. Gently knocking his foot into Robertâs, he asked, âso did you decide to just come all the way out to Bayview to try our great coffee, or are you here to turn the neighborhood upside down? What have you been up to?â
âActually, Iâm Iron Man -- everything I do is cool, Stanny-boy.â Robert claimed without taking his eyes off the pup. âI think I should make Mark buy me a dog, that would work out well. He loves animals, so we should have a lot of them, right?â he mostly asked himself. His mind already set on probably picking up a dog without even warning Mark.Â
âOh, here to turn the neighborhood upside down, of course. Mark and I moved in a couple of blocks from here. Planning on staying here at least a few months, but I really like the scenery, so I might be able to convince him to make this permanent.â Robert admitted. Even if Mark left, he could stay, but Robert didnât like the thought of living alone at this point. âGreat coffee, though. Iâve been well, taking a break up until Mark recruited me for his documentary. You? Any new blockbusters coming up?â
Elizabeth gave a small curtsy as she held onto the cup, laughing shortly at her poor attempt at one. âSorry for startling you. I do- I do, been living here for a while. You know, we would have probably sent a memo saying you should all move here.â She laughed.
Taking his offer in sitting down, Elizabeth thanked him for moving the chair and sat down, placing her cup on the table. âOh please, you donât have to send me any flowers- but I do live in the apartments.â She smiled, crossing her legs as she took a sip of her coffee while he talked. âMark too? How exciting! Any particular reason on why you moved or did you secretly know we lived here and thought youâd surprise us?â
âYou should have!â Robert insisted. âItâs absolutely gorgeous here and to know that a few good friends are right around the block or two? Someone ought to be crazy not to want to move here.â It was perfect for actors, really. All of the connections were nearby, it seemed, and the houses were modest enough that one could leave for awhile on work and not have to worry about them or the neighborhood.
Robert dropped back in his seat. âOh no, youâre getting a whole garden of flowers. And, yes, Mark, too. I had to drag the whole walnut with me, otherwise heâd been across the world by his lonesome self trying to save the world.â Robert claimed. âWell, itâs nearby where Mark was wanting to work on his documentary that Iâm in, so it was perfect. A coincidence you all live here, really.â

âAm I allowed to ask what the documentary is about? Or can you not say?â She asked curiously. She loved hearing about the work other actors were doing. âI just needed a change of scenery from dreary old London.â
âTo be vague, itâs about global warming. Mark is quite the humanitarian. Really goes bonkers for stuff like that, bless him.â Robert said with a smile. âIâve always enjoyed London. The weather, though, I always end up sick the first week I go there.â
