take a step into a higher perspective

Do the embers burn?

Burning your gunpowder tongue?

Do the blisters ache?

Or have you become

A tomb of lost desire—

We meandered in and out of

the same woods, meadows

the same malls and grotto

the same shore of salty lust

sometimes deterred by need

by them, by life, by money, greed

in moments of regret, led by us

accomplice to the dysfunction

unwittingly part of the charade

each cocooned in a nest foreign

anxious to end the sold-out play.

The sand seems more intentional

each grain coveted, dwindles fast

as the flame of life blazes a path

not quite as long, not nearly exact

a little more wise, a lot less youth

a return to the wispy bangs of truth

a contagious love of pure innocence

one travels a path of least resistance

what remains is a virus unrestrained

I hope we cross each other’s grove

when this happens, we will know

the rest not foreign or lost in the past

Here I sit

at what may or may not be

the bedrock of rock bottom.

Marks climb the wall

where I thought it was before,

stretching high—

innocent of how far down

things can go.

Maybe hell has another circle.

I’ll dance with the devil soon,

confess my sins,

watch beelzebub himself

cower at my deeds.

There are many,

and for all of them

I am sorry.

I know I am stronger

than my demons,

but there are so many.

When they swarm,

I stumble—

but still, I walk.

One foot, then the other,

repeat until safe.

Is the coast clear,

or is that just sparkles on the water,

beckoning me?

At what cost am I willing to travel,

to lose a part of myself,

to eat

from the golden tree?

a morphing murmuration

in its aerial aura transcendent and harmonizing.

I forget the visage of the past, turn layers of unused thought into ode origami

and sing with the katydids because they remember who they are;

and wrapped in sensuality,

I flutter, a starling lyric in vacuity of time.

Everything happens for a reason, And maybe that’s why you and I had a fallout, You weren’t meant to be in my life, Anymore, and our path were meant to diverge, But it was not for nothing, Lessons were learned, some bitter, some sweet, And some for forever to keep, I had front row seat, of how you showed yourself to the world, And how you actually were, It was interesting to see, how men’s mind worked, You learned how stubborn I could be, How I could throw away years of bond, Just to keep my word, something I had said, First time we met, It's okay though, everything… happens for a reason, And lessons are learned, some bitter, some sweet, And some for forever to keep, But You are someone I pray to high above Everyday To Forget.

My voice does not criticize me anymore, I have tamed it from the feral creature It once was. Down now, down. My voice wears a collar Though I do not keep it on a leash.

Silent. I am a silent person now. Yes, I speak with lips moving, I converse when I have to.
